When is someone going to break the 715 raw bench?

I see they are quite a few raw benchers who can bench over 600 why is none of these guys going for 715 raw bench . ryan kelley broke scotts equipped bench why don't he go for his raw,also it is a guy in the 242 weight class who has has 675 bench on youtube and robert wilkerson has 675 bench with chains.I know somebody can crush but what is stopping them

I think the best bet for someone who could do it would be Nick Winters, but I doubt that anyone wants to risk getting injured unless they're sure they can do it. 715lbs is a shi.t-ton of weight in case you didn't notice.

lol its not that easy. For these guys adding 15 pounds to there bench in a YEAR is an accomplishment, it will be a while before this record is broken.

I believe if someone put money on breaking the record like say 100 grand and we will see who can get 1k bench raw. I am thiking most people dont care about breakig records pl meets since it is not enough money. Just to win or just enough to get ranked.

the vast majority of 600lb benchers, used allot of drugs to get there.

the ones who didnt, either dont want to use drugs, or dont have the money too, and if they did have the money and wanted too, they would probably get injured from makeing fast gains on a already huge bench.


i honestly think the reason scott hasent done it since, is because he cant pause enough weight to set a new record.

And that is why I personally do not believe in shirted benching. Ryan Kenelly can out-bench Scott Mendelson with assistance but cannot do so without. Yes I know the shirts require even more skill but it ruins the mystique for me. In this case, more is less.

wasn't there some 220lber doing 700lbs a year ago? I think if he bulked more he could have best chance. 700bench is inhuman for 99.9% of population even with tons of drugs, so doubt be broken for awhile.

I have trained with Kennelly quite a few times and just about every week he was going heavy shirted work. Go figure. One time though he showed up without a shirt and went raw. Just to see what he could do. He went to either 675 or 690 raw (cant remember, and this is when he was ~350 lbs). He came down with it and missed it because he couldnt pause it. I think this was because he was not used to it and could probably work up to it but he has said many times if he were to break it he would not pause it and do it touch and go similar to Mendelson's.

pausing probably puts more strain on the chest and shoulders and severely reduces what he can bench because hes built up so much top end strength

Has always been pretty vocal about Mendelson's 700+ benches all being TnG, but the record lift (and that clip) is supposed to be a pause bench so take that for what it's worth. I think that's counted in the record books though so that's what matters. Would like to see video of Henderson's prior record(s) 700+ with pause to compare the length if anybody has it, reps for link. I don't think any 220 was raw benching 700 lbs touch and go or otherwise, closest TnG (and what you're thinking of) is probably Hoornstra's 675 TnG

Ive looked around ALOT for it and havent found anything. that vid is 700 i believe but ive never nor have i ever heard of anyone seeing the 711 video.

hasnt someone, i wanna say brian siders but im not sure, pressed 740 in competition? it got redlighted for uneven lockout or something but the person actually pressed the weight. dunno if it was paused, or if its even true for that matter.

edit:^^i might have this confused with the rumors of glen chabot hitting 745 raw in the gym cause thats all i can find about it.

Ted arcidi did 705 with a similar pause to mendelson and he did that a long ass time ago.
