I am dying here. I lost 50+ lbs in the past having the weakly cheat meal. 1 meal out of 42. For the last 3-4 weeks I have been eating clean. Not even protein powders. Should I go for the weekly cheats? I am think about hitting up Wendys tomorrow.

How bad is one cheat meal once a week really?

Well that was a few yrs back. Since then I have had my ups and downs. Putting on some muscle and fat unfortunately to cut a long story short. Been researching for years. I usually have some homemade baked egg plant on weekends to replenish glycogen. I'll have my cheats the end of the week. You guys are right.

unlike a lot of folks on here I consider a cheat the amount of food not the meal itself,if I can squeeze a bit of ice cream a burger or a slice of pizza into my day then in it goes its not a cheat.
personally I have found no difference in progress eating clean or not as long as the cals and macros are close enough I have progressed just fine whether thats the same when you are super lean I dont know yet
If you really want the cheat and can you afford it today calorie wise and in terms of your progress which your past record shows you can, then go for itYou don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

it is probably more important to incorporate a cheat meal at least once a week just to maintain sanity...lots of people will end up binging after diets from repressing on foods they have been wanting to eat during that.
Just incorporate your cheat meal during a refeed day (eating at maintenance or above maitenance)It's always about the upperbody...what about the legs?

yea cheat once, twice or even three times if you want but maintain a defecit and an adequate protien intake but don't let the cheats take up to many calls. Yes it is about cals in and cals out but you need to also maintain a balance.

i always have my cheat meal once or even twice a week. but my cheat meal isnt like everyone thinks its sill well under my cal range its just a different than the regular boring food. so therefore it just tastes soo much better. i think the past 2 months my cheat day i never went over 1650 cals for the whole day
You start with an intention, but you must constantly remind yourself to keep applying enough focus to achieve that outcome. Follow through. When you've given enough attention to the matter, you"ll have the result...

If you NEED to cheat one meal a week, cheat. If you don't need to eat that cheat meal, then don't. You don't really need to schedule it. If you can bypass it, then by all means skip it, but if you are craving that one cheat meal, eat it.
I think this mentality also plays very well in a healthy eating lifestyle as well. No need to "plan" a cheat when your body isn't craving it. Why eat a pizza if you really didn't want it?Member of the "former 400lbs+ club"

True, the only difference I find is that it would be too hard to eat 2000 calories a day of pizza, just because its hard to know exactly what is in the slice of pizza you are eating.
To me the reason to eat clean is its easier to measure. I have a cheat meal for dinner every friday after my heavy leg workout. What makes it a cheat meal for me is that it taste really good and would be really hard to measure exactly how many calories are in it.
I wouldnt doubt we will eventually find too that having a meal that is really satisfying helps stave off the starvation mechanisms.

It all depends on the cheat meal but it is possible to kill an entire weekly deficit with one cheat meal. Let's say you go to burger king and order up any combo meal which I'll put at 1,000 calories and you plan to end this cheat meal with a pint of Ben And Jerry's ice cream(we'll say 2,000calories) that would be 2k calories right there and some people's cheat meals belong on Man VS. Food, I'm not even joking. I love the show and all but all these shows about food aren't doing mankind too much good in my opinion.
"Everyone thinks they're on their way to single digit body fat as soon as they see a blurry four-pack in the right lighting.Your final body weight at 5-6% will be a lot less than what you think.Talk to me again when you get in contest shape." I'd be willing to say that 95% of people on this forum accomplish nothing in years, don't be one of those people. It's sad, they seem to have the knowledge many don't but can't utilize it.

My problem with cheat meals is that many people use them to reinforce bad eating habits and reinforce a taste for crap food. You "diet" all week so you can "reward" yourself with CRAP FOOD...... What you are saying to yourself is that you don't like the good food you eat all week and you REALLY LOVE THE CRAP. Then sooner or later you fall off the forced diet and return to eating more CRAP.
I just think your diet should consist of good food....enough good food to keep you healthy and happy.
A cheat meal if you are going to have one should be GOOD FOOD!!!! Maybe a wonderful steak with a baked potato or a fantastic halibut or crab dinner or something maybe higher in calories than you normally eat, but still GOOD FOOD!
Wendy's for a cheat meal????? Can't you reward yourself with something better than that?

Same here mang! I for sure don't eat clean enough, but worlds better than I used too and lost a good bit of weight....not as much as you, but working on that.
I still eat pizza, ice cream and the likes when I want as the wife kills me with what she brings in the house and really bends my willpower, but I do mix it in with my deficit and seems to work in my case.
I really do need to eat better though.Current Stack
