30+ kids out of how many? If we go by the Kinsey (was it Kinsey?) estimate that 1/10 men are gay, 30/300 sounds about right.

Another plausible explanation: Media and television have made it more acceptable to acknowledge that you're homosexual instead of hiding it.

Homosexuality is everywhere on television, you can honestly say that the majority of these kids are gay? Or have they been taught its okay to say you are gay even when they aren't? Nothing against gay people but it's kinda discrediting to those who are gay for kids to think its okay to be "gay"

You can make the argument that in most tv shows and movies you see a perfect family. Is that discrediting to the families that are broken? The divorce rate in the US is over 50%. Maybe all movies with a mom and dad should be divorced.
