Silly question. I tried searching it and got no results. I have a feeling overall fitness is what will result in the loss of belly fat, but with all these bogus commericals and opinions and nonsense flying around the world, it's hard to tell what the truth is.
So what's the real deal? Obviously doing ab exersizes will build the muscle in that area, perhaps making them more pronounced, but does this necessarily equate to "targeted area fatloss"? Is that all bs?

Doing heavy weighted ab excersies will build ab muscles... doing non heavy weighted ab excercises will build ab strength and endurance, but won't yield the growth.
The fat on your midsection is not attached to your ab muscles, so ab excersise will not reduce fat in that area. You need to lower body fat overall, and fat on your midsection will follow.

theoretically, if you ate exactly your maintenance calories everyday, then started doing ab exercises, the calories burned doing that would infact burn bodyfat. however that would be the absolute slowest way to lose fat ever. but, in theory..

At least, these days, the gimmicky ab exercise gadgets are being forced to put the disclaimer: "Results not typical. Testimonials used the Absculptor 3000, ate a reduced-calorie diet, and did regular aerobic exercises" in their testimonials.

I don't think it has anything to do with if people took biology or anaotmy its the fact that tv and radio have generated this theory in peoples heads that's just not true. Take the new taco bell commercial. It states how its healthy and you can have the drive thru diet. But read the subtitles at the bottom it in fact states only way to lose weight is reducing your calories. And moderate workout. I read the bottom and just laughed bc really how many people read subtitles. Hardly any. All they see is ohh taco bells new drive thru diet. Ill take 3 of these 6 of these oh 1 of them and a diet pepsi. Its good for you. Then in reality don't lose at all. Its all the hype of how were changing our econmy to be healthier. Wrong its what they want you to think. It doesn't effect their sales at all in fact probably increased them.
You start with an intention, but you must constantly remind yourself to keep applying enough focus to achieve that outcome. Follow through. When you've given enough attention to the matter, you"ll have the result...

Still gotta keep up with the ab exercises just as you would any other exercise, if not more. While just targeting your ab muscles won't target your belly fat, it will strengthen your core region, making your overall workout more productive. And more productive = more calorie burn. Muscle has been shown to use fat as fuel, just not at specific spots.
