    hot tub after workout

    Today an hour after working out i got in the hot tub with my girlfriend. Is it okay to use a hot tub after working out or is it a bad idea?

    It should be fine.
    Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.

    i like getting in the hot tub with your girlfriend

    seriously though there are loads of studies that state immersing your muscles in hot water after a workout helps remove waste products from your muscle tissue. i always take one straight after doing legs as it seems to speed up recovery.

    There's nothing wrong with hot tubs as long as you don't have a heart condition, or has been mentioned, are dehydrated. Feeling relaxed is nice. if you can hit the sack after that, even better - for zzz's to start building your muscles.

    damn thats a suprise, i always feel better after taking a hot bath..

    so i am guessing a sauna does not do much for recovery either?

    don't get me wrong

    - it's feels great; you relax, your nervous system calms down. that's all good.
    and if it will help you calm down after a workout so you can get some good sleep even better since that's so crucial for muscle work

    it just won't help with doms.

    Personally I never go anywhere near hot-tubs !

    6 people in a tub x 3 per hour

    = around a thousand people in an equivalent 25m swimming pool.

    Couple that with warm water, the fact that they rarely shower before going in, etc, etc.

    Yuk !

    I knew a guy that would carry his own chemicals and test kit with him on vacation. Me...I just wing it, but I am pretty good about rinsing off before using hot tubs and such (if owners really cared they design their pools so there were hot water rinse stations REAL close to the tubs and pools)

    The golds gym that I sometimes go to outside post has a jacuzzi and I've seen the people that go in there before me. I will have to say hell no to that and just take a hot shower. If I catch it early enough though on a Saturday, then it's very nice.
