hello a massage therapist told me that I had weak looking hip muscles but nice muscular legs and upper body. So what exercises could I do to improve these area or is it just genetics? I want to improve it and get it to match up with the rest of my body in proportion. Playing baseball I know I wasn't using my legs to hit the ball but just using my upper body which is a big mistake if you want to hit for power! Any help would be appreciated!

Agree with these exercises, you can also perform single leg RDL, band squats, step ups with weight. Just to name a few more.
Also about the comment and strengthening hip flexors, usually not the problem. Usually the hip flexors are too tight and the glutes need the strengthening.Got Pain? Lacking results? A buttox that is not muscular. Small hip flexors and adductor/abductors.
The hip muscles do cross over and touch the legs. When people refer to hips they mean the hip muscles. Obviously it's not the joint itself.
Just as if someone said you have strong wrists they mean forearms, elbows they mean forearm/upper arm, knees they mean thighs/calves, etc.
