Extra Muscle = more insulation from the cold ?

Looking to move to a colder climate, yet I would like to stay lean. Having extra fat means extra insulation I know. Can one gain extra muscle and have the same effect for insulation from the cold ?

I don't want being lean to have any negative associations .

    Thanks

Well, I am overweight right now and would not know the difference between a lean physique.

Never paid attention to that stuff but this would make for some very interesting scientific studying at an university laboratory then publish the findings in an established scientific publication.

Alaska would be the perfect cold environment to test out the theory.

I'm thinking that only fat would help with that.

He will wear a coat, of course. The point is the natural warming of the physical body in a lean or obese state.

It's weird, but when I had 17% bf and weighed 110lbs I actually could handle winter weather better than I can now as an obese person. I always thought it'd be the opposite.

Don't let the "what ifs" stop you from getting lean and muscular. Thermal underwear will take care of any extra coldness.
    Mind strong, body strong.

That is interesting. It could be that the muscles are more tightly wrapped around the skeletal bones resulting in natural warmth insulation with friction from working like snow shoveling, running in cold weather ?

That's a good question. I'm pretty sure fat is a much better insulator than muscle. I'm always colder when I have a low bodyfat. Think about it, there's a reason whales have a 6-inch thick slab of blubber on them.

Fat goes on top, muscles goes on the bottom. Muscle isn't going to help with insulation. Just invest in some thermal undershirts
