What's wrong with sitting on the box? Helps with the "sitting back" part of the squat and it'll defiantly build more explosion because you're at a dead stop.
For Bench Press, who is stronger?
A. The guy who benches 225 x 5 while "bouncing" the weight
B. The guy who benches 225 x 5 while being at a dead stop
Anyways, like others have said, defiantly watch your back."Giving your best is more important than being the best."
I train as an athlete, not a bodybuilder.
REPS for SUBS.

you are supposed to sit back on the box to take away any stretch reflex or momentum. weight used with parallel box should be less than free squat. (to above)
good lift OP, make sure you are doing actual free squats with frequency though. i did box squats for a couple of months and made good progress on them, but then went back to squatting less. dont really find it to resemble a free squat closely enough to replace squats. maybe cycled in every once in a while or used as supplemental exercise. but, of course it depends on the person and their technique.

GOOD MORNING! (see what i did there)
Nice lift. thats about my box squat (i can box squat more than squat??????) and i'll be 16 in two weeks. Very impressive, as is your DL.
fail
and people who say they dont like box squats- at westside barbell they almost always box squat (instead of regular BB squat). But hey, what do they know???? Box Squating greatly reduces injury and is a great exercise, although you should still free squat every once in a while so that you dont get lazy on the negative and for other reasons.
