Also, I think db upright rows target the lateral and rear heads pretty bad. Dunno if anyone else would agree with this but I tried them once after a set of db lat raises and the pump was pretty sick.

not if you're doing them right, with the lateral head in mind, it's an isolation exercise that's supposed to target that specific muscle.

do you start with the dbs in front of you or at your sides?

i do them from the side, strict form, no swinging, hits lateral head very well. It's probably the lightest weight i use for any exercise come to think of it, i use what would be 35lb dbs

lateral raises are the best to me.
    BUTTTTT

make sure when you go up your pink is higher than your thumb and the weight is more towards the back of your hand. cause itll hit the middle delt more as where if your thumb is higher itll hit the front deltoid more

    db laterals
    cable laterals
machine laterals (the kind with your upper arms pushing up against the pads)
seated db overhead press (the way i do it, i feel it only on the side delt)

behind neck presses and laterals. If you do laterals turn your hands down so at the top of the movement your doing a thumbs down kind of think and squeeze your delts. Also dont let the dumbells come infront of you, keep your hands out to the sides and stop the dumbelle when they are a few inches from touching your hip area then reverse the motion and perform the next rep. I like them seated rather than standing...

wide grip upright rows will also target the side delts., but when you go up don't go all the way up, just to about upper chest high with the bar, any higher and you will involve the traps.
