The Tucson and Terrain suprisingly get better gas mileage. Actually sort of destroy it. I test drove it because I'd really like to get something to fun to drive. But as much as I'd like to do that, it'll never happen cause I commute so damn much and the snow would butt **** me every time I go out.
I've only heard great things about the 2009. The only thing I didn't like was the interior.

Forrester, but...
I actually preferred the Ford Escape to the Forrester. Drove both on the same day, and the ford accelerated faster and smoother(6sp vs 4sp tranny, was a huge difference) and was a lot more fun to drive, plus the electronics were a lot better(ford sync). The ford also had the best gas mileage of the small suvs. I thought the back seat in the ford was roomier too. Plus the little things like how accessible it was to fill oil and check other fluids in the ford vs Forrester.

Really? I sat in an Escape, but didn't drive one. I really like the way they look, so maybe I should head back out and drive one...
The 4-speed tranny in the Subaru is definitely a major negative.
edit: I also want Ford Sync REALLY badly.
How do the Subaru and Escape compare with minor off roading? I'm talking like little dirt trails (AWD Escape obv)
