Can someone explain to me why when I do a deadlift motion without any weight in my hands, and I squeeze my glutes at the top of the movement, I feel my glutes contract so hard.
As soon as I pick up a weight thats a bit challenging, I try to squeeze my glutes but they wont get the burning heavy contracting feeling..
I am going to assume its because my glutes are very weak so when I pick up a weight, other muscles than the glutes take over the lift.. can someone confirm? and how should I go about making sure my glutes activate properly during deadlifts?
Thanks

You answered your own question
Practice with lighter weight until you get it down pact. Also post a video, it could also be your form.FS/ S/ OHP/ B/ DL
120/150/70/100/180 =KG
I don't go to the gym anymore so above stats are useless.
Only do weighted calastentics in the comfort of my own home!

Pretty sure that’s how i pulled my hamstring because of my weak glutes..
I’ve seen this and it looks like it’s a good activation exercise.
