That Elmax steel is getting hammered when it comes to the ZT knives it seems. A lot of quality issues with it.
Never owned a SOG that I can recall, probably never will.rumpler of stiltskins

I've only owned 1 SOG and it wasn't too bad. It was a little flipper called Twitch 2 if I remember.
I carried it in my coin pocket every day for about 3 years. I didnt have any real complaints, I worked in a data center at the time and used it to cut a lot of ethernet cable so I was constantly dulling & sharpening it.

Anyone have a Khukuri/Kukri? Been looking for one but don't know who makes good ones. I have heard brands like Onterio, Cold Steel, Condor and Himalayan Import. Also looking at goloks, something another "machete"-type that has much weight on the tip.

But I heard you give your favorite producer
head in trade for his creative juices.

ive only bought one, an aegis.
opened the plastic package and started playing with it (assisted)
kept getting harder to close, and started making crunching noises when folding the blade back up. eventually just locked up. it was defective, i know they arent all like that. but besides that i liked the flat grind and blade shape. i dont like that it didnt have any liner. i dont like my manix 2 for that same reason.
guess it just comes down to priorities, lighter weight for less durability. but they just feel cheap to me. sog was much worse than the manix as far as just feeling cheap and breakable. id rather a tenacious than this manix 2 and its less than half the price. anyone want to buy a like new manix 2 lightweight blue?
i just returned the busted sog to bass pro who have an awesome return policy. wont buy one again, even a fixed blade like seal pup. no thanks jeffry

i dont keep up with the forums and stuff but yeah ive heard the same thing. i have a 560 but havnt used it or sharpened it. honestly i only have two knives i actually use, my mini grip that was my first "real" knife thats been to hell and back, and a kershaw leek that i grab when i cant find the benchmade.
i baby all my expensive knifes until i find one thats perfect for me, then ill buy another one for a safe queen and actually use the other one.
anyway back to zt elmax, last i heard they (ZT) had acknowledged the problem and started to address it. this was a month or so ago last time i read aboutt it.
my shop had a good price on the new zt assisted, i forget the number but its basically a mini 560 with steel frame instead of titanium and you can take out the assist so its just a flipper. may pick one of those up as the 560 is too big to carry

I bought mine here, you can order it with a yellow, black, or orange handle
http://www.knifeworks.com/dougritterknives-gear.aspx
If you order, I think code br549 will save you 5 or 10%.
Also, you can knock off 25% from cutlery shoppe right now.

I think I might pick up a full size griptilian just for fun because they're so cheap.
Yellow or orange handle, that is the question
