What would be their method of sharpening? I sure wouldnt want to take it to be grinded on..

Seems like all the big operations like that use the wheels.

I'm guessing they would use a grinder. That would totally ruin the temper of the steel and it'd never hold an edge again.

Is this seriously bad for a blade? I've got a buddy that's got his own paper or whatever wheels and puts a hell of an edge on hunting knives. What's weird about the edge he puts on is if you feel it doesn't feel sharp at all, kind of round, but when you cut something with it holy sheet it goes through like butter and of course you can shave with it.

I think if you let it get too warm it is. I dont know about a paper wheel though.

Yea and Im sure the people at Lowes know about heat affecting the temper. I would just rather do it myself than have someone I didnt know. You can grind it just has to be slow and watch the heat.

From what I've seen, people at Lowes can barely put a can of paint in the mixer, let alone know anything about how heat affects the temper of different steels.

Its a very fine diamond wheel, small, usually over by where they make keys. Its a grinder in a sense, but they dont just run the edge down whatever bench grinder that has whatever wheel on it.

The edge they put on my Leek and my M-Tech are actually better than the factory edge AND they put a much smoother uni-faced edge on the M-tech, which was good, I forgot to mention it but the dude didnt miss a beat and kept it uni-faced. Only takes 5-10 solid passes and thing is factory sharp, it not better. I'm gonna be honest, I dont have much patience, and I'd rather just have a friggin razorblade in my pocket than sit in my chair ruining the slope of my knives and slowly, FINALLY, getting a decent edge on it.

I can understand the convenience and quickness but I dont always access to a Lowes. Plus its just another useful skill to have and pass on. And if done correctly will not ruin the bevel of the edge.

This is the 01kz which is the Aus8 steel and not the 4 or 6 which I from the reviews are lower quality overall. We'll see I guess

Got my M-16 in and its not near as solid a knife as I thought itd be. No real usage tests yet but for a beater knife it will do fine. Ive felt sharper factory sharpening jobs as well. Lawks was something to get used to. I thought it broke the 1st time I opened it.

Im not really sure i understand the appeal of this knife relative to the hest or izula. its a different grind so maybe a little sturdier due to the thicker spine but why would you buy this if you already have or could get an izula for the same price.

I didn't really see the appeal either other than buying just to have it. I figure ill get one just because I support esee. I honestly don't like to go smaller than my Izula II
