Thanks guys there's a bunch of different kinds of mini griptilians but I think the only difference is the shapes of the blades and color (correct me if I'm wrong) so I'll most likely go with this:

Not a fan of tanto blades for EDC, the sweep of a traditional drop point or leaf shaped blade works much better for EDC tasks. The perfect EDC blade shape in my opinion is a full flat grind, drop point.

Mini grips are a very nice EDC blade though.

I like the size of my mini as far as EDC goes. The regular grip just seems a little on the big size.

Tenacious. I have 2 of them and love them, for the price they are a great knife. (around 30 bucks)

There is also a little smaller version of that knife called the Persistence.

I like the look of the Tenacious, reminds me of the Military model which was my edc for years. The full flat grind is my favorite due to strength and ease of maintenance.

It is pretty similar to the Military, a little shorter blade length and overall length but it has a great feel to it. I have larger hands but the handle design and jimping on the thumb ramp really lock it in nicely.

The blade steel is 8Cr13 MoV. I've had great luck with it for an EDC blade, holds an edge really well and for the price I cant complain. I prefer VG-10 or S30V steel, but thats a totally different price point.

For a folder I would want either VG-10 or Dendritic Cobalt ala David Boye.
I will settle for other steel types as long as the knife is good enough.

You dont know about the zip tie mod?? Best thing in the world for a spyderco EDC blade.

That does look like a handy item. I wonder if there would be any legal ramifications to carrying it in your wallet. I wouldn't want to be caught with that in Kalifornia.

this is mostly for semperparatus but all input welcome. How do the ontario ranger knives compare to the esee knives? Basically the same knife? Looks like ontario may have manufactured for esee previously?

Originally Rat Cutlery now ESEE were doing designs/knives for Ontario then had a falling out due to RC wanting to do higher quality production, which means more costs and time to ensure quality.

They left Ontario then became Rat Cutlery now ESEE, ESEE knives are better quality IMO.
