    Not sure about the best, but we've got a great 'twist' machine at my gym which works the abs and obliques. Also an intense crunch workout and the standard compound excercises will strengthen your core

    Static holds will produce stability/strength in your core and then others will assist in building strength.

    Core lifts work your abs but russian twists, turkish get-ups, windmill's, superman holds are some pretty good ones you can include.
