http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/ind..._calls_of.html
Animal rights group is pushing for deer contraception to control the population as opposed to hunting....and they're referring to it as 'natural means'.

So they're going to distribute free condoms to the rutting bucks?
Any workout you can walk away from is a good workout.

I wonder how much that job pays.
BRB, preaching abstinence to PA deer.

I find a .30 caliber "lead pill" to be an effective sterilization treatment. It completely eliminates their desire to procreate!

It's too bad the parents of all these hippy idiots weren't sterilized.

Wish we had that problem around where I live.

$1.05
it's used to control other animal populations where hunting isn't possible or practical.
since this is in a national historic site i can see the point about the hunt, BUT all the meat from the hunt will go to food banks for the poor in that area.
hunting is a much better solution than letting the deer starve and maybe thin out through fewer births.

"Cohn's foundation has offered about $120,000 for deer contraception and fencing"
Contraception and fences...definately natural.

i remember reading somewhere that fertility methods would cost 350-500 dollars PER deer
Reject a woman, and she will never let it go. One of the many defects of their kind. Also, weak arms.

Well obviously hunting is the best solution then, it only costs about $2/round.
I think the best solution though is to simply give these "animal rights activists" that have no idea what they are talking about enough population control that they all eventually die out. Then no one will complain, and problem solved.
But we'll go ahead and use their more natural way of birth control and fencing them in. I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

If they aren't thinned out via gun/bow, they will be with cars. That contraception idea is about as dumb as it gets.

If you think about it, a deer is either going to die of starvation due to lack of food/old age/disease, hit by a car, killed and eaten by a predator, or shot. If I had those options, I'd choose getting shot. Nature isn't humane. Hunters are predators, which is as natural as it gets.
Why do they make weights so damn heavy?

Here in Georgia, the deer population is out of control - TOO many deer and not enough food and not enough hunters to thin them out. You also have to deal with the "bambi" mentality of most people (deer are too cute and too cuddly to kill).

Freaking idiots these people. Predation is 100% natural way for deer population control, and humans are a perfectly natural predator.
