    Limited slip means if one of your tires looses traction power is sent to the other tire to compensate.

    A truck without LSD (limited slip differential) will just spin and spin if it looses traction.

    At least this is how it is with cars. I'm not sure about trucks.

    for some reason i think it is that when the power is transfered to the back wheels if one wheel is stuck in ice on ratio slip trucks the power gets transfered to the wheel that is stuck to give it more power to get out. My truck has this and it is a huge pain in the ass. Ive been on dry pavement and one of my back wheels is on a slippery patch of ice and i have got it stuck. Only the tire on the patch of ice is spinning trying to get out. Its embarassing and a pain that i have to get out an push it off the small patch just to get going.

    If you have four wheel drive than who cares about traction. I have that slip BS on my Titan and it's more annoying than helpful.

    It's either what's mentioned above or it cuts power to the wheels that slipping. Who cares, you're not buying a race car, look for the more important things.

    Non Slip: less traction and more understeer

    Limited Slip: more traction and more oversteer

    Basically with a limited slip, the differential that connects the 2 axles will force both sides to rotate at the same rate. usually a car will do this on its own but there are times when the axles act differently from one another, turning, driving in snow, etc

    Lol. LSD is one of the most important things to look at when buying a truck.

    If you want to buy a truck, you need to consider MUCH more than capacities. SFA/IFS...gearing...tranny...rear end..ect.

    If i've got a tire slipping I can just throw it into four wheel drive and boom, another axle and two more wheels for traction. But I do agree about gearing, differential, etc. Another important thing for me is bed size. If you can't fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the back of your truck than it's not big enough.

    sure its important, if you drive in the snow, or dirt. lets be honest though, how many people actually really use their trucks like that? not many, so its not cost effective, given the premium the dealers charge for the option.

    Its amazing what a Tundra can actually tow.... It's got the guts of a 3/4th ton in a 1/2 ton truck. Frame matters when towing. A crewmax tundra will be able to tow more than a crewmax f150, aswell as pull and stop much quicker due to far larger brakes.

    But when it comes to towing, nothing comes close to a SuperDuty, Duramax, or any kind of turbo diesel. There are 2500lb torque 1000hp diesels out where I live that can TRASH any sports car as well as out tow any truck.

    Your uncle is completely correct... I wouldnt touch anything about 10k in a crewmax. But I would still never own any truck but a tundra (unless I needed to tow HEAVY loads). The 2010 Platinum-Texas Edition Combo is the most comfortable 1/2 ton truck out there that you can get from one of the big dealerships (not custom made like Foose/Saleen etc)... the 12 SPeaker system is easy to upgrade and when upgraded has few rivals. That being said, I can still tow 10k in my tundra, go faster than a titan (2nd fastest half ton truck, making the tundra the 1st), and have access to a massive aftermarket.

    They have a $6,000 stillen supercharger.....haha. I've got a banks catback and nismo intake and that's about all I can do engine wise. They do have some programmers but I don't think they're worth the money.

    The Tundra is a heck of a truck. I would have got one if they had the 5.7 back in 06.

    Around 16 I think. I've seen a few non-tubo/supercharged titans get in the low 15's but they had them stripped and modded out. Most all half tons are around 16....except the slow furd.

    Stock its a mid 15 second truck with the 4.7 being a 16 second truck..... with the ****ty TRD supercharger on it and nothing else, which is like 3 grand), it becomes a 13.2 second truck consistently (my times on old 5.7L). But its not hard to get it to 10-11 seconds... and Im 100% serious about that. With the modifications I posted.. thats about where it will be at and easy +800hp with a near invincible engine. I forgot the other modifications.. but i dont want to go through fuel delivery etc..

    But to make the engine handle untold hp, I have a great idea... since the block is open deck, it is somewhat limited.. so I'm going to resleeve it with a thick iron ductile sleeve, and close the deck using either a block guard or billet inserts welded in and decked.

    This "rumor" has killed the titan. Everyone I run into says the brakes suck. Well, the rotors were undersized in 04/05 and warped. It's a half day fix and they do it under warranty. Did that and never had a problem since.

    They're a pretty solid truck with a poor reputation for reliability. One other issue they've had is the rear end going out. I have yet to see one that has but just something to be aware of. Pretty sure all the newer 07-up are fine.
