i workout 3 times a week, eat healthy, and use creatine monohydrate. over the weekend sometimes i'll go to parties and have 2-3 beers...is that very counterproductive for gaining mass? i never drink a LOT just socially a few beers.

Exactly. If you pour a bag of steroids into your beer, you're all good bro. Otherwise note: alcohol, while delicious, and fun, is anti-anabolic, it busies your liver, and dehydrates you. A little beer, small effect, a lot of beer, bigger effect. Beer all the time? Bad idea...for bodybuilding that is.
