how many days should i workout

so at the moment im off work for a few reasons but for the meantime because im pretty much not doing anything i need start working out again which i stopped a while ago because i got really sick and so on.

I am contemplating all pro's workout plan, but thats only 3 days a week, i have a lot of time on my hands so i'd like to utilise it well, so im not sure how many days i should work out i was thinking either 4 or 5 days im not sure wether 5 is too much or not but i would like too be doing something constructive with my time!

Also while i'm writing this i may as well ask for a good routine for the amount of days i asked for, also i want to do a full body routine.

    cheers!

For what I've read If you want to do a full body routine, the optimal is 3 days per week of HARD lifting. Remember your muscles need to rest as the growth occurs while you rest, specially for demanding workouts like full body routines. Less is more! 4 - 5 days are usually for splits. If you plan on doing a 4 day full body workout, it wouldn't fit in a normal full body routine, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday then again Monday? You'd be training full body two consecutive days! Even worse if using 5 days, high risk of overtraining.

You can find a program that fits you in the workout DB:

What about 3 days for hard work-out and 3 days only for cardio? I prefer this kind of mix and it's work for men really well.

that would depend on the poster's goal (he doesn't mention them). If he is bulking it might be difficult to replace the calories burned while doing cardio on off days (3 days). A bit off cardio (just a bit, 1 or two days per week light cardio and being sure to up the calorie intake on those days) on the off days wouldn't be so bad, after all, the heart is also a muscle and needs conditioning.

Well i want to do a full body routine, didn't realise they should only be done over 3 days, so thats good then, i thought i may have been missing out by not having a plan that i could do for a few days. Also i will be doing cardio i was just going to do it on the off days and have one day to rest so just 3 days cardio as gstoychev said.

i think i'll continue with all pros workout! thanks!

I want to try a new workout routine. I just want some opinions because rest is a key factor and overtrainig is something that I would like to avoid. I have been training for over two years and I am currently weighing at around 190 at about 8 percent bodyfat and have pretty strong lifts for someone my age. This is just an idea..
    This would be my split.
Mon- Chest/tris(six chest, two tricep exercises)
    Tues-Rest
Wed-Back/Bis(five-six back, two bicep and forearms)
    Thursday-Rest
Friday-shoudlers( four or five shoulders exercises)
    Saturday-Legs(six leg exercises)
    Sunday-Rest
    Repeat
I am looking to bulk up. I will be eating clean foods. Six-seven smaller throughout the day. I will be taking weight gainer throughout the day as well as an amino drink and protein shake for after my workouts.I have gluatmine and a 12 hour proteiun for night as well... Usually I go five to six days a week and hit each musclegroup twice. I am curious to see if I can improve by cutting down the days I go and training each muscle once a week.
