    Pushups/pullups everyday?

Just wondering if you guys think this would be good or bad. I loooove doing pushups, pullups, etc, so id like to do them everyday. However, Im worried it will affect my recovery from chest, arm, back, etc workouts.

I want to do at least 200 pushups every day, prolly more like 500. At my friends house we do alot of chinups cause he has a bar in his room. So if I work my chest/tri's say, monday, would it seriously affect my recovery to do pushups or chinups the the next few days?

Well it probably would effect mass but if you did them your muscles would be in "better shape".

I think my new years resolution might be do pushups every morning.

Never been a fan of pushups, there are IMO better exercises you can do for the chest/tricep/shoulder parts.

They're good if you can't make it to the gym.

Pullups are the awesomest thing ever though.

    ive wondered this too,

do you plan on doing sets of them everyday, or just as many as you can do at once?

i think as soon as you start doing multiple sets, you'll need more recovery time and wond want to do them every day. Hmm anyone else have an oppinion?

edit: and what does better shape mean (more muscular endurance?)

by better shape i'm assuming he means more greatly toned but doin them more than twice a week for 3 or 4 sets of 30 seems pointless. 500 a day is rehtardhed imo

I do around 90 push-ups a day. Just to keep my chest pumped up and flexible. But I wouldn't do anymore just in case of over training. (that's just me though.)

    TONED!!!

Also don't to too many you will over train and eventually breakdown muscle fibers and loose mass

What would someone look like, if they decided to do 3 sets of pushups a day, to failure, up to the point where they were doing like, one set 300, set two, 250, set three, 200 pushups.

Would you be skinny and strong? I don't get it...

You probably wouldn't look that much better physique-wise.

Some japanese kid called Minoru Yoshida managed to do 10,507 push-ups before finally stopping.

Couldn't pind pics of him, but I bet he wasn't a big guy.

Well, you know there are different kinds of muscle, I'm sure.

A muscle in "better shape" could be the same general size as a muscle in "bad shape" but would be able to do work more efficiently and easily. Consider a swimmer's body vs. a football player's body. Not to offend bigger varieties of people, but swimmers and gymnasts often have stronger muscles than them, just not as much muscle mass.

So, in short, a muscle in "better shape" would be a similarly sized muscle with the ability to do work better.

doing push ups every day wont lead to any significant change in physique, if you're wondering. But, I guess if you love them so much, then you could do them as long as it didn't affect your recovery. I know from personal experience when I was in the army, I'd work out every night at 6:00 pm and I'd get a good workout in. Then when p.t. came in the morning, I couldn't do 10 slow controlled push ups. I guess what I am trying to say, if you bust your ass in the gym, you shouldn't want to do 200-500 push ups.

No problem with it. It'll also help with your overall work capacity and muscular endurance. 500 every day might be a little too much, but every person is different. Your workload also comes into play.

I like to start the day off with some pull-ups, push-ups and handstand push-ups. It doesn't affect but enhance my training and I bust my ass every time I train. It's also a good way to foster recovery from strength workouts. I've had many days where I followed up a strength training day with a GPP session the next day that included BW squats, push-ups and whatnot and I was fine. My work capacity skyrocketed from it.
"It is easy to be pleasant when life flows by like a song, but the man worth while is the one who will smile when everything goes dead wrong. For the test of the heart is trouble, and it always comes with years, and the smile that is worth the praises of earth is the smile that shines through the tears."

well thats a funny story. they knew I could score a 300 on a pt test any time, but they would still tell me im a **** bag or whatever, one sgt of mine told me I was going to be a p.o.w. because I was a weak soldier. they get mad because pt was a team building exercise and they wanted everyone to be in sync.
