    Calves Just Won't Grow!

G'day, i've been lifiting for quite a long while now, everything has been goin amazing, but only one problem, my calves just won't grow, quads grow fine, but the calves nothing, nd its starting to look outa proportion. What exercises can i do to target this, besides my leg workout, i've started doing standing calf raises every night before bed to try nd give them a boost. It also seems with my legs in general that they don't grow as quickley as the rest of my body.

    Any tips appreciated, cheers

You guys say the standing calve raises don't relly work. Genetics are a big player in my eyes but i found adding as much weight as i could so i could only do 5 reps gave them a bit of a boost, still my calves aren't huge but it did give them a bit of mass compared to bodyweight raises. Hope this helps.

My genetics aren't that good regarding my calves, I have seen much improvement doing heavy calf raises with low reps.

sounds retarded, but as a kid I used to stand on tiptoes all the timeand I'd walk like that around the house. Worked for me, to date I have no issues with my calves.

For calves, you should do more weight, so that you can barely do 5-6 reps.

Your calves need to be absolutely abused to grow well. Most people try to hit them like they were doing quads or shoulders or something but you really need to punish them. Look back at arnold when he first started. His calves were so bad he wouldn't take pics of them for photshoots. You'd see a lot of pics of him standing in the water or something like that. But then he figured out you have to abuse them often to get them to grow. Donkey calve raises and Barbell calve raises. Make sure your heels go below your toes to get the full range of motion. Flat footed aint gonna cut it for big calves. I recommend a mixture of heavy and high reps. One day do 3 sets of 20 nice slow deliberate reps for a few exercises. Then the next day load 600 pounds on the bar and knock out 4 sets of 4 or 5. This will make them grow

    form > weight.

make sure you can do enough weight and go all the way up, allowing you to pinch your calves for about 2 seconds and slowly bringing them down. if you cant do that, then lower the weight.

    same thing goes for forearms.

calf raises are gd but if u load a Heavy weight on the bar and simply walk around. thatll give the sukers more growth. an deadlifts believe it or not.

Try running with a weighted vest or something, and on calf raises make sure you're doing a lot of weight.

Thanks, What are Donkey Calf Raises??

maybe it was my fault for letting you think i was ok when i wasn't. Maybe it's my fault that you didn't see that failure gave me strength and my pain is my motivation.

    Calves respond for high repetitions.
Go ride a bike for 20 minutes (only pedal as you were sprinting, don't sit)
    Also, walking barefooted alot helps.
