Red face Lyle McDonald's Rapid Fatloss program? Protein Powder?

Is it acceptable if I consumed the 167 grams of protein I need a day just from protein powder?

I am a vegetarian and meat is out of the question. Sigh, I have such horrible food habits when I am eating at my school's dining centers. I'm wondering if this 2-week program will help alleviate any carb-cravings I get.

Anyways, back to the protein. Assuming that I consume an EFA, a multi-vitamin, some veggies, etc. which form of protein would best be used since I will not consume meat?

    Whey isolate? Egg-protein? Egg/Casein combo?

Please help me on this. Thank you very much.

haha good call. tools will be tools. um yeah i get quite a bit of my daily protein from whey + milk. i have a mrp in the morning and 2 scoops of whey in 10 oz. milk pwo (or mid-day on off-days) daily. i also have a delicious little concoction i'm using on my bulk right now:

    1 scoop cake batter whey
    2 tbsp flaxseed meal
3/4 cup oats microwaved with enough milk to cover
1 cup frozen raspberries + blueberries
    cinnamon

mix all that goodness up and it's a solid meal with all your macros covered.

You realize there are non-meat foods out there that contain protein, right?

    Google is your friend.

And yes, if you want to get all of your daily protein needs from powder, that is fine. A gram of protein is a gram of protein is a gram of protein.

Isopure ZeroCarb or Low Carb is good. 50g per serving, and it's not loaded with fat and carbs. If you want more carbs in your shake, blend a banana with it and add some milk.

And what what it's worth, Lyle does not recommend all protein powders on that diet, Base your diet on egg white, tuna, white fish etc, plus a handful of veg at every meal.
    65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs = keto.

All most all plant proteins are incomplete proteins. Google this little grain "Quinoa". Although I have not tried it, it is supposed to be awesome and it is a complete protein. Quinoa has been touted as being a "Perfect Food" and was a main staple for the Myains back a thousand years (or so) ago! There are numerous ways to fix it and it can be eaten as a breakfast cereal as well. Let me know if you give it a shot. I have been meaning to buy some and try it myself.

There's a reason for him not recommending a diet of all protein powders. Chances of sticking to it are extremely difficult and that liquid will do very little to curb hunger.
"Everyone thinks they're on their way to single digit body fat as soon as they see a blurry four-pack in the right lighting.Your final body weight at 5-6% will be a lot less than what you think.Talk to me again when you get in contest shape." I'd be willing to say that 95% of people on this forum accomplish nothing in years, don't be one of those people. It's sad, they seem to have the knowledge many don't but can't utilize it.

Good point. Hmm, maybe I'll return to meat just for two weeks heh. Besides, all that protein powder can add up. Thanks guys.

I read about that in fitday last night, then looked it up. It is very high carb compared to the amount of protein in it.

Once I go back to carb eating I will try it out, it still sounds good, but a serving seemed to be about 8g of protein, 7g of fat and 29g of carbs.
