You can try a kerosene heater like construction crews use. They work great.

Yea I was in my garage the other morning and it was like 20 degrees! It was also dark out and I was like "what am I doing out here?" Nothing like you guys but still I feel your pain. Posts like these make it easier to get my ass out there.

Try living in an uninsulated basement with no heater.

Not really all that great for you in a small unvented area.
Kinda like taking bong hits off a car muffler while your trying to work out.We used to use them in a woodshop untill it made everyone sick one day.
Propane is a little better. but if you get one ,warm the place up hot and then vent before working out.
just my 2c

Hadn't thought about that. I guess you could crack the garage door.

I saw a propane heater that puts out 12,000 BTUs for like 29.99 at my local harbor freight.. I live in FL though so IDK what you would need to heat your cold ass place.

You might look into an Infrared heater, ceiling or wall-mount. Many large commercial garages and shops use them. They use electricity, so there are no venting or exhaust issues, and no open flames.

Didn't Rocky train for the big fight in the Russian wilderness? He didn't seem to mind.
Seriously though, if you don't have insulation, your gunna need a lot more than a space heater/vent/heat lamp if you want it "warm" in there. Insulation the walls and ceiling at least...not much you can do cold getting in through the concrete floor.

Has a built in thermostat, I leave it on 60, and turn it up to 68 a half hour before I work out, keeps it nice and toasty (In my garage- concrete floors)
It also has the ability to program two "schedules". So you can program it to turn on an hour before your workout starts and it automatically go off afterwards.

that type of heater only works well in a place that is already kinda heated...will not take the edge off of below freeazing temps.....i have tried all types of heaters.

Well my garage is not heated, and its been in the high teens and 20's at night lately and has worked fine. But I do leave mine on 60 at all times then turn up right before workout. Doesn't keep it as warm as the house, but not cold by any means.
But my garage is only 300 sq ft. That could also make a big difference.
Not to mention I think Canada is a bit colder then CT

Hey. The last couple weeks have been colder than normal because of this winter storm so we will ignore that.
Normally this time of year it is about 75-80 degrees in the day and about 50-55 degrees at night. That will vary depending on where you are in the valley as we have a serious urban heat island issue as you get toward the middle of town.
When we have a "cold" snap like the past week or so it was only mid 50's in the day and high 30's at night.

with the cost of heating a garage up a few times a week for an hour or 2 might just equal the price of a gym membership (maybe not though with time convienience gas costs driving to and from...but something to think about)
for me the summers are tougher... we are talking central texas where its 100 degrees outside with SUPER HIGH HUMIDITY... so the garage is pretty damn hot...
winter isnt as bad...but it gets down to the 20s sometimes and 30-40s often...but layers are my key...and i also warm up 15 min on the treadmill and i feel pretty good and by half way in the workout im in shorts and loving it...with a very light sweat...
but the bar being so cold...thats annoying...every winter we remember about this after forgetting about it all year long...LOL
