She can speak up when needed, but I know if people say something rude in return, she will take it much more personally than she should...bcs she thinks others are like her too, that they aren't rude arses and don't harm people just bcs they had a bad day...and other situations when people harm others without a reason.

I've said this before..
It's amazing that a matter as simple as a stolen parking spot would lead to a person getting so angry that she would feel the need to stab someone. Now her life is going to be one big mess, all for what, a parking spot?
That's why you need to be careful with people out there. Some people have no common sense about the possible consequences and are simply crazy. When you hear these stories about people shooting others because of a road rage incident, or a drunken fight at a bar, or what have you... it's just insane and flat out stupid. Why throw your life away for a moment of anger that you would get over in ten minutes anyway? I guess growing up with a decent well-being, I have a little more rational when dealing with things. Yeah I'd be pissed if someone were to steal my spot, but I'm not going to try to kill the person and risk spending the rest of MY life in jail just because of that.
I would probably just kick in the side of their door after they walked away.Return of the Mack?

Great book: "The Island at the Center of the World: The Epic Story of Dutch Manhattan and the Forgotten Colony That Shaped America"
http://www.amazon.com/Island-Center-..._bxgy_b_text_b
From Publishers Weekly
Drawing on 17th-century Dutch records of New Netherland and its capital, Manhattan, translated by scholar Charles Gehring only in recent decades, Shorto (Gospel Truth) brings to exuberant life the human drama behind the skimpy legend starting with the colony's founding in 1623. Most Americans know little about Dutch Manhattan beyond its first director, Peter Minuit, who made the infamous $24 deal with the Indians, and Peter Stuyvesant, the stern governor who lost the island to the English in 1664. These two seminal figures receive their due here, along with a huge cast of equally fascinating characters. But Shorto has a more ambitious agenda: to argue for the huge debt Americans owe to the culture of Dutch Manhattan, the first place in the New World where men and women of different races and creeds lived in relative harmony. The petitions of the colony's citizens for greater autonomy, penned by Dutch-trained lawyer Adriaen van der Donck, represented "one of the earliest expressions of modern political impulses: an insistence by the members of the community that they play a role in their own government." While not discounting the British role in the shaping of American society, the author argues persuasively for the Dutch origins of some of our most cherished beliefs and their roots in "the tolerance debates in Holland" and "the intellectual world of Descartes, Grotius, and Spinoza." Shorto's gracefully written historical account is a must-read for anyone interested in this nation's origins.

That's really sad.
Though it didn't stop me from thinking about the time that Jerry needed the cop to escort him to a cab because Crazy Joe Davola was waiting outside to beat him up, yet the cop made Jerry wait while he proceeded to order coffee, a muffin, and a sandwich. One would think a muffin was filling enough to get on his way.

There's a new party being born: The People Who Hate People Party. People who hate people, come together! "No!" We're kind of having trouble getting off the boards, you know. Come to our meeting! "Are you gonna be there?" Yeah. "Then I ain't fucking coming." But you're our strongest member! "Fuck you!" That's what I'm talking about, you asshole! Fuck off! Damn, we almost had a meeting going. It's so hard to get my people together.

I don't remember all teh details, but I remember reading a [local?] news story while I still lived in VA.
- Kid keeps talking on the phone at the movies.
- Guy asks him to turn it off.
- The kid ignores the guy.
- The guy goes out, gets one of the managers and gets the kid kicked out of the theater.
- The kid comes back with his thug friends at the end of the movie.
- Shots fired... I can't remember if the guy died.
I also remember another movie theater story, where some guy told others to stfu and shot them a few minutes later when they didn't shut up, right there in the theater.

This is what I have to remind myself when I'm ready to fly off the handle at someone.
Society does a terrible job of self-regulation, and it is why the rules are such that they favor douchebags and criminals over peaceful, law-abiding citizens. In an ideal world, people would be able to exercise reasonable recourse over another person that has wronged them. The problem is that people take it too far. For example, I felt like the way I handled the situation with the old lady was appropriate given her actions. However, me getting out of my car and smashing her windshield or slapping her around would not have been. Unfortunately too many people do the wrong thing.

Also in the news: "The World's Fastest Indian" with Anthony Hopkins is one of the best, if not the best movie I've ever seen in my life.

From an e-mail from my mom:
How to deal with aggressive drivers
Common aggressive driving behaviors
* Running stop signs and red lights
* Speeding, tailgating, and weaving between lanes
* Passing on the right of a vehicle
* Making inappropriate hand and facial gestures
* Screaming, honking the horn, and flashing headlights
Like If I didn't read the above and saw some a-hole running through a red light going 5018459 over the limit I would be like nothing out of the ordinary here, let's move on.
Thanks mom. Thanks a lot.
