I'm looking for ideas to remove cheating via body motion from this exercise. I've tried doing them on my bench (elevated), but the support bar gets in the way.
I was thinking of placing a 1" - 2" by 6" - 8" board across the safeties in my power rack, then lying on top of them and rowing. If you've successfully tried this or another variation of strict barbell bent-over rows, could you please share your advice?
thanks

The bent over barbell row is supposed to be an explosive power movement. One that makes you benefit from using heavy weight and cheating. Your first couple of reps you want to keep it strict, but then slightly jerk to get the rest. With some exercises cheating gives your better gains. Your using heavier weight so it shocks the muscle then cheating helps you bang out more past your bodies fatique point.
Its tough always being the biggest guy in the room, very lonely at the top.

that or you can do it with your ass leaning partially against a wall and you back bent over.
I never tried it myself, but ive seen someone at my gym do it. it should take some pressure of your lower back.NYPD cawk riding mods negged 10X for calling out the NYPD being racist.

How about lying face-down on an incline bench, and using a pair of dumbbells, Ken? It's not quite the same exercise, but it will have the results you're looking for.
No brain, no gain.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I've tried doing these on my FID bench, think I got the idea from will's journal, but the support bar to the bench gets in the way, it's set up on a long diagonal as shown in this illustration below. (left view, head towards the left)

So, I need an elevated platform for my chest that will let me do a complete rep without any momentum. I need a strong board or something so it doesn't snap in half, the splintered middle would be in a very uncomfortable location.

whats the reason you want them "isolated"? low back pain? there are machines that have a chest pad, or the DB rows is a great idea. If you have to cheat that much on bb rows your prob going to heavy. You could also try inverted rows.
