This may be dumb but I am going to ask.

Whats the deal with stocking caps? I can see it if you get cold but I am seeing many 20+ BF guys wairing them in the gym.

In the past I never wore one and got down to 4% no problem. Heck shivering burns calleries. As long as your nutrition is there and you don't get over cold your body won't triger putting on fat. Liveing in WI and cold winters ya my body wants to trigger for winter fat.
As long as your muscles are warmed up before working out whats the deal?
I have always had short hair and wore a body sling during work outs.
I'm just wondering because I seen this today again.

Agreed. Actually, I started wearing a stocking cap at the gym in an effort to keep the earbuds of my iPod firmly in place, and after a while it got to be a habit. Also, the temperature at my gym is usually pretty low, so I'm quite cold at the beginning of my workout.

Bingo. I actually started wearing one when I got down to lower BF and my metabolism is total crap, I get cold. It gets to a point where I dont even sweat towards the end of a workout (almost). So, the cap gets me warmed up much faster.....and I found as a bonus that it keeps my earbuds in. So, I have grown to like the stocking cap.

I'm sure I'll get there soon. If I can make it to 30 w/ hair I'll consider myself very fortunate.

LOL. GOod luck! I'm 40 and have been slowly but surely loosing it. Not enough to go for the full rip yet; not enough to look as good as I can. Kind of Lid-Pergatory. Consider yourself fortunate if you either shed it quick or not at all.

Interesting question. Historically speaking, Black men have worn stocking caps not as a fashion statement, but to produce waves in our hair; we put a little bit of hair grease on our heads, put the stocking cap on, and voila, we have wavy hair. My grandfather even did it when he was a shorty in the 1930's and 40's. . . the only difference is we did it in the confines of our homes. It wasn't until the mid to late 90's, when bruhs started wearing stocking caps in public, it became accepted as a part of hip hop culture, and like most things that start off in "hoods" across the nation, pretty soon the whole world is imitating it. . . little history lesson
