Stop for a minute and think what does Kevin, any other bodybuilder, or anyone for that matter owe anyone else? Kevin is trying to make a living based on his skills, genetic potential, and determination. If he wants to charge $100 for a picture and you will pay it.. good for him. I personally would pay $100 for a picture with Arnold BECAUSE I FEEL IT IS WORTH IT. I would not pay $40 for a picture with Levrone, but I do not denegrate him for setting his price.
You are not entitled to a doctors time and experience simply because you feel you are owed it. This is a fundamental concept that many of us have gotten away from.
Read the following quote from Ayn Rand.. and really think about what it is saying.
"I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine."

she's an extremely dumb bit.ch who somehow desided that her clear and bright mind is just what's needed to become a philosopher.
she wrote a lot of simplistic and overwhelmingly horrible stuff where she developed her considerations on the narute of good goverment\society etc.
her surprisingly retarted way of analizing the social reality (called objectivism) suddenly became extremely popular in USA among the influential financial groups, mentally deranged conservators and students of social science, who have experienced a severe brain damage.
although, she hates socialism "CAUSE IT's BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD"Last edited by agvares; 12-09-2009 at 11:47 AM. Reason: being haunted by Rand's ghoulish image

Too funny about all the bias towards Ayn Rand..
She was born in the Soviet Union in 1905 and grew up under communism, with none of the freedoms and liberties we enjoy here today. She came to this country at age 23 or so, because of the great freedom, to pursue a career as a playwright and author.
She developed a philosophy over time, based on Aristotle, that focused solely on reason, not emotion or mysticism. Her philosophy centered around the individual.. and against a communist or collective that limited personal freedoms or rights. She wrote two major novels, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, that are best sellers to this day.
I "heard" about Ayn Rand earlier this year and have read both of these novels. In my opinion, they are long but brilliant.
A couple of things to consider..
One of the most analytical bodybuilders, Mike Mentzer, was a fan of hers
Anytime a woman puts reason over emotion, we should all pay attention (sorry ladies)
Do we all believe that we will reach our goals if we wish for it long enough, or do we learn how to achieve the goals and work like hell to achieve them? Bodybuilders follow reason and rational thought every day.

i'm sorry to dissapoint you, bro, but there were no Soviet Union before the 1917, obviously, she was born in the Russian Empire.
then again, bolshevistk's party were simply not communist, so you can't talk about "the communists" here.
before 30-s there was a Civil War, you know? there were a lot of liberty in the young Soviet Republic. 20-s became the peak of the new soviet culture, art, poetry, literature etc. (it all went down after Stalin managed to capture the power and Trotzky escaped).
making dichotomies like "individual — collective" is so simple minded and narrow that there's no special use to expand on that.
Politics\economics\metaphysics\logic — all that "chapters" of Aristotle's philosophy were waaaaaaaaaaaaaay much ahead from Rand's dumb waste of paper.
The fact that something sells good doesn't speak about the value of the thing itself. Jerry Springer and Oprah are huge, so what?

First of all nobody has ever really given a crap about anybody, ever, from the beginning of time. Don't put any faith in men, you will just be disappointed. Of course, there are good people that do good things, but they are few and far between. Start of by assuming everyone is in it for themselves, and you can be pleasantly surprised if they aren't.
Next, I started learning about bodybuilding when I was about 14 and I never believed any of the stupid magazine claims and lame supplement pushers. If you can't see through that kind of thing by early adolescence, you've got a tough road ahead of you.Nothing

Wa wa waaaait. You think working your tail off, and then exploiting EVERY means necessary to be THE BEST, and actually be able to COMPETE with the others in your sport is CHEATING?? What planet are you from? What kind of TRUE competitor accepts his fate, and says ''oh well, guess I'll just accept my genetic limits....''??? Anybody with half a brain realizes the guys in the IFBB use steroids, GH, IGF, Insulin, pain meds, and anything else that will help them get that extra 1% more than the next guy out of their hard work. People love winners, but nobody wants to accept (at least publicly in front of others) that their ''hero'' might ''cheat'' in their eyes. It's acceptable for someones' hero to bust their tail on the field, but NOT to also pop a couple shots a week of testosterone to give them that extra edge. Winners win no matter what the cost. Suck it up, or take up a new hobby.

Interesting that you say that and then your quote at the bottom is "This is Sparta" Talk about sheep following the shephard. That bearded ass face led them right to their death. And they followed like a bunch of skirted sheep. And for what? So maybe you should put a quote their that applies more to a loaner doing things by themselves. Like Thoreau. He sat at a lake by himself and wrote about the grass and counted bugs.
I say that people can charge what they want for anything they want. If you don't like it don't pay. And yes, if most of us could make money on a song or a signature, we would.

any kind of modern socio-economical system combines different elements of different types of social organization.
socialism (though you can't find a pure socialism anywhere) isn't based solely on the redistribution of wealth, rather than upon the idea of supporting the citizens and allowing them to achieve the minimal level of income no matter what (that things depend not only on wealth). In this way yeah, i'm a fan of socialism. Just can't see anything wrong with it.
Any goverment relies on army and police to keep its power. Moreover, every goverment redistributes wealth in one way or another.
Economics, sociology and politics are pretty complex issues, you can't just pick an extremely "pure" variant of socialism\free market\communism etc. and ignore all the drawbacks.
Unlike that, Rand creates a strong dichotomy between a good social formation, her ideal society, and all the others. That only works if you're a 12 y.o. conservator who sees the world and all the human history through the black\white filter of your ethic categories.

I'm afraid "It's complicated" isn't a trump card, nor is smearing "black and white" judgements.
Reality is in fact black and white as there are no contradictions.
The argument from status quo is also invalid, slavery was universally practiced, this didn't make it acceptable. All posts should be considered in the correct context, especially those in the Misc section.
