Introductory Microcycle Week 1 - 12/7/09 - 12/11/09
After not having maxed out or going heavy on Squats, I've decided to put my max as 315. At my all time peak it was 345, so it's not that far off. Also this was my first time doing Smolov, so I don't want to go as higher as I wanted since I know the harder stuff is yet to come.

hey man just a word of advice, the back work might interfere with your smolov cycle, so pay attention to the exercise selection (barbell rows are probably a very bad idea with a constantly fatigued low back for example. and a fatigued upper back can interfere with a heavy squat set.) just mentioning so you can get the most out of smolov.
Good luck, you'll probably need it ;-)

Didn't use belt for this workout, and I somehow find it much better. I'm going try to Squat without the belt from now on, this way I can focus on core as well. Workout wasn't THAT hard, but it wasn't easy either.
EDIT: Dannyautrey caught me doing the wrong matrices today. It was supposed to be 5 Sets of 7, but instead I did 7 Sets of 5. I really need to be careful not to mess it up again. Good thing it was still early(2nd workout of the week out of 4), so I'm still good for the 2 workouts. 1 out of 4 workout ain't gonna affect me....I hope.Last edited by juiyuanwu; 12-30-2009 at 05:55 PM.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUC*** you are right!!! Wow I totally messed up today!!
But all in all, it was a total of 35 reps, and it was supposed to be 5 sets of 7. I did 7 sets of 5, which equaled to 35 reps. I guess I just missed a couple of volume work, but its no big deal.
Thanks for catching that mistake by the way, I totally misread the matrices.American Council on Exercise - Certified Personal Trainer

Thanks for checking in bro, let's just say Week 2 is do-able, but Week 3 is where the pain and suffering is at. I am pretty damn sure any non-advanced lifter would have given up already. The pain during the sets are excruciating, you just have to put on the music, and let it all fall baby. Who-ever can survive Week 3 I give MAD props. You'll want to do nothing but just sleep sleep and more sleep.
And yea, your still growing; at least start when your 18-19 haha.American Council on Exercise - Certified Personal Trainer

I think the hardest part about 4 Sets of 9 Reps is the air breathing. At the end of every set you feel like giving out cause not enough air is being inhaled. Conditioning plays a TREMENDOUS factor.American Council on Exercise - Certified Personal Trainer
