Tore my ACL doing Krav Maga in May, had surgery Oct 12th and now I?m about 7 weeks out from surgery. I?m in my 5th week of Physical Therapy and its starting to get more intense, which is a good thing.
For anyone that has had this type of injury how long did it take you to get back to ?full? strength. Things are coming along well, just getting a little impatient. I hate to say it but I miss doing squats, lunges, RUNNING, etc?

What grade 'tear' did your ACL receive?
Don't rush back into it. Honestly. Rehabilitation, especially in something as structurally important as the knee, MUST be done correctly. Otherwise you may set yourself back a fair while.
If it is a complete rupture of the ACL - it could take as much as 12 months to resolve (from the onset of the injury); however, I'm unsure of other gradings recovery periods - (It wouldn't take much to research, but I'm pressed for time, sorry!)

Here is my ACL reconstruction blog.
http://csabatka1.blogspot.com/
I had surgery just 16 days from when I tore mine and didn't have any major loss of strength going into surgery. For me my reconstructed knee was about 85% as strong as non-op at 3 months (I progressed faster than anyone my surgeon and pt had seen). I returned to some sports at about 4 months.

Thats awesome man!!! The dr. said I was in the top 10% of patients. I've been cleared to jog and do some very light leg work. So its coming along nicely it just sucks that I cant do what I want all the time yet.Best in Fitness,
