    Bicep Training

My biceps have always been very responsive to training. I think they are TOO responsive... sort of on the out-of-proportion side. I work triceps hard and really enjoy training shoulders. I know I have body fat covering my arms so they're not going to "look" toned until I solve that part of the equation.

Here's my question: Would it be a mistake to only train my biceps indirectly, as part of compound exercises rather than isolating them through curls?

Also, I'm interested to know what hammer curls do... is it a shaping exercise?

    Thanks all!

definately not, you don't have to directly train your biceps to get growth. Reverse barbell rows, chins

My biceps also overpower my triceps. I don't train my biceps nearly has hard as I do my triceps because my biceps will respond well to any type of training.

Hammers hit the biceps and the forearm.

Make sure you train your tricpes intensly with overheads, skulls and dips or pushdowns....

Just wanted to let you know, I put your advice to work and I am pleased with the result so far My arms aren't increasing in size but they still look firm. Whenever I trained biceps with curls before, I always had increase in size, which I didn't want. Thank you! I will keep this up.

What's wrong with having nice peak biceps?

That's one of my favorites to see on a lady!!!

She can be skinny and trim everywhere else but long
as she has some noticable arms, then its all good!!!
    I am Magical !!!

    Especially with tha Ladies!!

I wish I had that problem.
If at first you don't succeed, take 5 pounds off and try again...

lol we all want what we don't have I guess. I want slender, toned looking firm arms. They definitely have some width to them, you can sort of see in my picture. They are sort of out of proportion with my body, in my opinion. Ah well we work with what we have

lol. So true. I have no biceps. My triceps over power them. I use my Bi's but they just dont want to grow. I gain strength but very little size. My goal in life is to be a lean 125lbs. ITS SO HARD! Then theres that girl on the main page "how do I lose muscle and gain fat" LOL. Grrrr.
