I'm scheduled for left side inguinal hernia surgery on Jan. 8 (mesh procedure). My surgeon told me I could still work out prior to surgery but not to go too heavy. I just finished a chest/back workout at about 80% of what I normally do, and I feel okay. I'm using mostly machines (Hammer Strength), avoiding leg and ab work. Deadlifts and rack pulls are out too.
Anyone else continued to work out in this situation? I plan on doing so up to the day of my surgery. The surgeon said I should be able to return to work within two weeks, but no heavy lifting until 4 weeks post-op. I feel pretty confident about this.

the more you can keep mobile and keep moving the better.
you can do things as well like gentle small hip, knee and ankle circles for the lower body that will not put your vulnerable areas at risk. Any twinge at all simply make the movements smaller wherever it's possible to keep moving.

TZMAfter 8 months of injuries/not lifting and double hernia surgery in December (and losing 30 pounds of mass).... training began once again in February!
