Hypothetical: if God was proven to exist... (serious thread)

Just say that it was definitively proven that God exists, and by extension, so does the devil, heaven, hell and all that good stuff. Would you continue in your ways, i.e. sleeping around, doing drugs, being rude, insulting people, essentially committing sins, knowing there was a hell or would you try and become 'righteous'.

If he came down from the sky, I'd obviously believe in him because there would be proof right in my face. However, I would not worship him. I'd be forced to say "well hey, I believe in you now, but I can't worship you. I'm afraid I don't really agree with some of the choices you make. We have a very different moral code, and you do some pretty douchebag things. Hey, you know all those starving kids in the world? Yeah, all them. Yeah, you know how on of them dies every 5 seconds from starvation? Why don't you go feed some of them instead of worry about whether or not I'm kissing your ass and boosting your ego or not".

Btw, dead srs. Just because I lived in North Korea wouldn't mean I would swing from the nuts of Kim Jung Il and think he's a cool guy, offering him my praises and whatnot, because he expected it. If your leader is a little sht, your leader is a little sht, regardless of divine status.

There are hundreds of different views on God..It amuses me when someone brings up the viewpoint that God is to blame for everything bad that happens.

The question of God and suffering.

Is God willing to prevent evil but not able? Then God is impotent
Is God able but not willing? Then God is malevolent
Is God both able and willing? From whence then is evil?

There is suffering in the world, that is undeniable. If he wants the best for his people, and he can do anything on a whim, he could stop it. But he doesn't. If you try to justify the suffering of others by saying it is punishment for sin, they deserve it, etc, then you are just as sick as your deity and your brainwashed argument is invalid.

Pretty sure the ones who actually believe are living their life differently. The ones who are just hedging their bets are probably not much different than anyone else. They're just doing the minimum to scrape by.

Actually, by this thread alone we can conclude that people who believe in God are actually worse people than people who don't.

Why?

If it was certain that God exists and you would be punished for all your wrong doings, the people who didn't believe in God would change. Would do good, even if they were doing good already.

People who believe in God don't even do good themselves.

What does this mean?
