Ive searched and cant seem to find any! Half the proteins these days are keeping their amino acid profile secretive as a "proprietary blend". Anyone know of a good one? The cheaper the better....

The amounts of arginine found in a protein powder (which are what, anywhere from 1-2gs? per serving) is probably less than most servings of nuts, soy, seeds, egg whites...
Is this a doctor telling you to stay away from arginine - if not, I don't think you have much to worry about.Misc Scotch Crew.

OP - all protein has arginine. However, if u supplement with lysine, u will not har additional virus outbreaks. They only occur when the levels of arginine are greater than the levels of lysine in the body.
Aim for 1500-2000mg Lysine a day, and u will have no issues at all.I got no strings to hold me down

I asked the doctor about this too. I had supp'd with up to 6000mg of lysine/day and still continued with outbreaks. He said that is not entirely true, he said what the theory is is that the lysine will "fill up" the cells, and thus block out arginine from entering, but the arginine can still be absorbed via the small intestine, and will still end up in the blood stream and cells.
I wouldnt have a problem with not taking protein powder, but im in college and the cafeteria is only open for 3 meals. Its hard for me to get enough protein in from say, chicken or beef that they serve without supplementing with a powder.I ALWAYS rep back, just leave a link to one of your posts in the rep comment.

okay but what i want to know is will the increased lysine mess with your nitrogen levels?
(if i'm reading correctly it suppresses arginine/absorption)

Wow, there are arginine free PWO's?
Please list some! I totally gave up on them a few months ago, i used No xplode for a few tubs, (no outbreaks surprisingly) and since have had to put the kabosh on PWO's. Im working out at night now and a PWO would be a huge help for me.I ALWAYS rep back, just leave a link to one of your posts in the rep comment.

ive been trying to find argenine free protein powder too
I am close to giving up. I am looking for the same reason. I am taking 1500mg lysine a day. I drank 1 shake a day for about 6 weeks. I didn't get a full blown outbreak but I had a headache, fever and flu like symptoms for a month. I finally figured out it was the protein powder. I stopped drinking it felt better with days.

DUDE realx OK Lysine and herpes is a myth. Look read your Isolate Protein powder mix. Or that is the protein powder I use . Check your contents, in a 35 gram scoop there is Aprox 130 calories 31 grams protein. . Now there is 4 grams Lysine per 35 Grams of cross filtered Isolate protein. And there is only 1 gram of Arginine per 35 grams of cross filtered Isolate whey protein. So two shakes a day and you are getting 6000 Mg of extra Lysine a day.
Now my recipe is 35 grams New Zealand Isolate whey unflavored. One and a half teaspoons of liquid organic Vanilla extract, 9 Ounces of water one teaspoon of organic maple syrup , eight drops of liquid stevia extract and two ice cubes blended in a steel blender . NO PLASTIC.
Now best thing for herpes is to meet on alot of women and be good friends with them. Then when they ask why you are not in relationship explain you have this disease. Tell them your depressed and that this virus is ruining your life. Then explain you wish you could meet someone with this same disease so you could live a normal life. Chances are she has many friends with this virus. Before you know it one of her friends with the same disease will approach you.
As soon as I was open about it I met others who also had it . Now yes I use a condom always and never kiss if i think I even have a chance of a break out. But my new PARTNER I met threw a girl friend aslo has it. Hiding it will just cause head aches. 25 percent of population over 30 has genital herpes.

I know exactly what type of protein to use for this issue
I do not have a sexual contracted herpes but I do have herpes caused by the chicken pox virus. It manifested in my eye after a very stressful year. It's pretty much on the same class though. My eye would turn read, water , totally miserable. I tried every kind of protein you could imagine to stop arganine from my diet. I was also taking around 6 grams a day for a year or so before it happened the first time. Anyway the protein you want is Quest. It's insanely good quality protein but not cheap 30-40$ for 2 pounds. It's only 40% whey I think and I don't even need lysine. I had to also stop eating peanut butter and any type of cereal. I know how stressful it was to find a supplement that would not trigger a outbreak . It's only like one gram of sugar a scoop with over 20 grams of protein. I'd recommend Quest Protein to anyone suffering from outbreaks.
