nirvana is underrated as ****, just because everyone hates on them and thinks they're overrated. especially in the musician world.

everyone is all over nirvanas nuts because kurt killed himself (or was killed if you think that happened). either way they have decent music, they definitely arent under rated, and they definitely are over rated.

they are an alright band with alright music, but nothing more than that.

they shaped a good portion of the music of the 90s. For a good while, other bands were copying Nirvana to the best of their ability. A "good" band is proven to be good by its influence. In this, Nirvana wins. A lot of grungy music nowadays sound common simply because Nirvana exhausted most of grunge music possibilities, and other bands copied it to death.

sh*tty generic music makes me rage. i understand that it's just there for mindless entertainment and clubbing/dancing etc. but still, people fall in love with a song, forget it 10 minutes later when they fall in love with the next, virtually identical song and for some reason it really pisses me off.

rage against the machine is definitely my #1 band. love all their sh*t, saw them a couple years ago. never get tired of any of their stuff.

See, having a "good taste in music" is all opinions. To me, all the music you posted in this thread (besides for Opeth) I would never listen to in a million years. It's not my taste and it's a little weak in regards to the style I like. IMO, you will never find greater musicians than those in melodic death metal bands such as Kalmah, Skyfire, Insomnium, Mors Principium Est, etc. and their talent goes unnoticed because a lot of pussies in this world can't handle the screaming. The vocals are the worst part in any band as far as I'm concerned. (guitar player for 6 years)

They're pretty much an influence to most of the rock today with the exception of the few that have been around since back then
