    How to prevent UCL injury for the thumb?

    I think I may have sprained or done something wrong to the UCL of my thumb after benching. I think my form was right and I did nothing wrong but I guess things happen. Not the first time I think my UCL has felt weird, dunno if same hand or from same exercises.

    Any ways to maybe strenghten or try to prevent an injury to my thumb UCL.

    Edit: I never try to do anything like 1 rep maxes or overwork/lift too heavy.

    Did you have a doc do a proper diagnosis of this? Is that what they actually said it was?

    Depending on the extent you may need surgery..

    No but after researching thumb injuries and comparing the anatomy with the location where I feel the tenderness, I think its the UCL. There's no pain but just a weird feeling like its sore or something. Starting to go away now but it's not the first time I've felt this type of feeling related to my thumb(dont remember if same hand).

    Doesn't seem that serious but just want to be aware before anything serious does happen.

    Edit: Feeling slight discomfort/pull when lifting heavy things with just the thumb and index finger. Normal feeling when lifting same object with hand with unaffected thumb.

    Hmm. Well, ideally you would be able to strengthen up the area so that it improves.

    That's your best bet.. besides getting it confirmed and going for physical therapy.

    I'm a last resort for surgery kind of guy... so if you can avoid it at all and be close to 100% that would be good. Otherwise, have the surgery if your quality isn't going to improve much and hinder your workouts.

    Assuming it is UCL.

    Fckkk I think playing around with the thumb too much made it worse. Now it kinda hurts and feels like its gonna swell. You might know what other types of thumb injuries this might be? Might not be or might be related to ucl I dont know.

    Ya I guess. Last times I felt this sorta feeling it went away pretty quick. But I was fcking around, moving my thumb trying to see at what positions and stuff it would hurt in so not smart. Hope its not bad....
