FIU.. I wanted to state in sate. A lot cheaper and florida scholarships can pay for a lot of the tuition. USF was my backup and UCF was my main.

Colleges don't give a **** about grades really. Once you meet their minimum scores for GPA and ****, they don't look at it again. After that, they're looking to see if you offer diversity to their school. Chances are they already have a white guy or two from the same background, with the same grades, who did the same activities as you, from the same area. Thats why you didn't get in.

your what a sophomore? you don't really know what your talking about (fully) you are right that they're looking at diversity, but not neccesarily in the way your saying. they're looking to see your grades (most importantly your ACT/SAT) colleges don't seem to care too much about GPA unless its just really bad but ACT/SAT is big. the next thing they look at is extra curriculars like did you do a lot of volunteer work? did you compete in any school related competitions, such as sports, or were you apart of clubs? (science, beta) colleges want people that make there schools look better and are involved.

My GPA was 3.2 but my essay rocked the ****ing house. Plus I had 64 hours of community service under my belt. I worked with nontypically developing children (what most people call mentally disabled) for a year.

I got into every school I applied to. OP, if you don't wind up going anywhere next year, do extracurriculars, especially good ones that help the community. That **** matters.

Otherwise you're basically saying the exact same thing in more specific terms, except excluding the fact that race, social class, and geographic position do actually matter.

I'm in my 1st year at UCF, just get a better SAT score, you'll be in for sure. I got deffered first, then upped my sat score to 1190 (just reading and math) and got in.

ah, yeah. most schools count honors and advanced placement courses to a five point max, ive heard of some schools having higher than that, not sure if it's true though.

I'm from Tennessee and ALL they really look at is your ACT(thats what we usually take) or your SAT...

i have a 3.2 and I got a 750 ( same thing as a 1750 they just subtract 1000 for some reason) on the PSAT sophomore year, but since my school is really hard and we have a mad good rep I can get into a school where the mean gpa is about 3.5-3.6

OP: I know people who got into UCF and USF with lower GPAs and SAT scores than me. Most of them were minorities... Those schools really aren't that great, and FIU isn't too bad from what I've heard. Did you apply to FAU? And even if you don't get into a university, going to a community college for two years and then transferring really isn't that bad. The tuition is lower, and it's a lot easier to transfer from a community college to a university than it is to get into a university fresh out of high school. In fact, I think public universities are required to accept people who received an AA from a community college, provided their GPA is high enough.

They might look at you like you go to a bullshiit highschool. IDK about the SAT scores, because I took the ACT instead, but a lot of people in here don't know what the hell they're talking about.

As long as those aren't private universities, which i don't think they are, they could give two ****s about diversity most of the time.
