Ive seriously watched hours of each on tv and still dont know what half the things on the screen mean.
sorry for the bad image but wtf do all the numbers mean?
I couldnt find an image of the football one, but what does the arrow overlay mean when it says '3rd & game' or something?
They look like good sports and i would like to understand the rules.

and 3rd and "game" is more like 3rd and Goal.
The distance to the next first down would occur past the goalline, which is not relevant because you would just end up scoring.

Further on that, there are fiel goals which you can kick. You only get 3 points instead of 6, and most kickers cannot kick much farther than about 50 yards. A team will usually go with this option on 4th down if their kicker is in range, otherwise they will punt it away. i got bored watching it. It was a 60 minute game that went for about 3 hours. Some guy would throw the ball one guy would catch it or miss then theyd re group and re start.
