I did 5x5 after about 2 years or so. 1 year of solid actual intense training. I gained 50lbs on both my squat and dead (315 - 365 for squat and 355 - 405 on dead) and well my bench sucks so we won't talk about it
If you do 5x5 do the advanced version with the intensification period which switches to 3x3. It's a solid program and I'm sure you'll gain from it
