    Bubbles in Urine?

This is a bad sign yeah?

Sometimes it's real bad. Looks like beer.
I got a urine test and the doctor goes "There is a little bit of protein, but nothing serious."

Should I see another doctor because this is abnormal or just leave it?

bubbles or froth usually indicates protein aka proteinuria

how much protein in a day are you consuming?

Roughly about 125g which apparently is less than what I can take safely.

The doctor told me stop taking additional protein (supps) for a bit and slow build it back up. I did, but still happens. He says there is protein in there, not enough to worry though.

But damn, sometimes my piss looks like its mixed with bubble bath chemicals or something.

in my completely unqualified opinion i think it falls into 2 broad categories

completely benign - ie you got nothing to worry about (as your doctor says)

    or

there is something more sinister going on in your kidney filtration. did anything else show up in your urine?

ok, well it usually is clased into 3 specific groups

1: as you doc suspects just excess protein intake
2: damage to the filtration apparatus (your glomerulus)
    3: protein not being reabsorbed

the number of causes that can lead to proteinuria is vast. and unless if you have any other symptoms/test results there is very little anyone can comment on here. i'd trust what the doc says, or pursue the matter but armed with more knowledge

i'd also drop the protein supps all together for the moment, but substitute them with food protein. less rapidly digesting so hopefully might put less of a strain on ur kidney

Get a second opinion if your worried about it. It could also be caused by forceful flow of urine that could make a foamy type of appearance due to excess trapping of air in the urine when it contacts water.

i think that used to happen periodically back in the day when i didn't take the best care of myself. but i piss so damn much these days and lots of water, my piss is almost always crystal clear and the only bubbles are the ones from the impact of my piss on the toilet water :P

i have this and my kidneys got messed up from the CREATINE, I had to reduce my protien intake and I only take 1 scoop now post workout and 1 syntha 6 scoop before bed with milk for slow digestion.

it has to do with your kidney not being able to process or absorb the extra protien.

I suggest you take some coq10 and stop taking any type of supplements for at least 5 months like I did, and stick to regular food for now and stop drinking artifical drinks like sodas and caffeine drinks.

drink water as well the majority of the time, i know it sucks but you have to make sacrifices.

If you have a medical condition that requires the managment that you stated, I hope your renal physician gave you a little better of an explanation than that.

OP, you can never use foamy, frothy urine as a diagnostic assumption of any malfunction in the renal system. Urine can be frothy and foamy for a number of reasons. If your doctor did a urinanalysis and said there is not much of a concern, he is more than likely right. Physicians tend to look look at protein in the urine as a serious sign of renal compromise and typical lean towards the caution side with going for future tests. Not all physicians, but most I encounter on a daily basis at least.

If he was concerned, he would order a blood panel to look at your creatinine levels, your BUN levels, creatinine-bun ratio, and order a 24 Hour Creatinine Clearance to assess your glomular filtration rate. Protein in the urine in trace amounts is typically common for guys. The mechanism behind why protein is not good is due to compromised filtration as protein molecules are far to large to pass through the filtration mechanism of the kidney so if they spill over into the urine, something is typically wrong, but again trace amounts are common in males, especially those who work out and exercise regularly and is not directly related to your protein intake. \

If your concerned, see another doctor. Plain and simple, but don't get blown away by what people say here and assume your kidneys are shot, or that you have to restrict protein intake to next to nothing.
