Personal development?
I say nurture bro.
Our personality, imo, is developed according to how the ones around us act and do as we grow up. Tons of circumstances though, based on what we're told is right and wrong, what we see others doing, what are surrounds are, whether our parents catered to us and always made sure we're okay or if they weren't as caring and made us do things on our own or just cry our way out of it. etcetcetc

Nurture. Look at serial killers and murderers, did most of them grow up in a normal environment? A normal family setting? Usually not. Fathers who beat their children usually were beaten as kids themselves. How a person is nurtured really effects them and how they are with other people. As a child, I was always around older family members of mine (5-7 yrs) and they were tough on me and roughed me up, and in my younger days I was a school yard bully. How a person is nurtured really effects them and how they are with other people. My dad has a short refuse and bitches a lot about miniscule things, and I've inherited that from seeing him do it.
Easily, nurture effects it much more. Especially from our parents.Last edited by Street_Ryda; 11-10-2009 at 09:20 PM.

I agree to that aswell. As we get older, we become our own person and are less influenced by things. We have our own values and morals, which also could've been effected from our nurture as a child.
Also, your nature can also be effected by your nurture if you think about it. People who have a kind hearted nature were most likely treated kindly to be that way, so their nurture effected their nature.Last edited by Street_Ryda; 11-10-2009 at 09:29 PM.

both.
People that suffer abuse in their childhoods go either way.
Look at Chris Brown for example who put a hit on Rihanna and blamed his childhood.
On the other hand we Michael Jackson who also suffered abuse but chose to raise his children differently to the way he was raised. I don't care what anyone says, Michael was a good person

Nature vs Nurture. Havent seen this debate before...
The reason people think its nature is because the people who are nurturing them into whatever behavioral path, are usually the parents. But I disagree. I think if you gave any kid to any **** parent you'd eventually have a **** kid too. Blood doesnt have anything to do with. Nurture.

Nurture for sure, although we are born with inherent genetic properties that make certain individuals more propense to do certain behaviors. In general attachment between a caregiver and infant is crucial in future development and behavior with authoritative parents being the best at rearing children. Look up bolby (sp) attachment theory. Humans learn incredibly well under operant conditioning. Yay.
