I originally bought a cheap 300 lb. Olympic set and I'm looking to upgrade my bar. I believe I've decided to go with this: roguefitness.com/store/product525.html ($150.00). However, it's on clearance and they state it's an older version. Should I go with one of these: roguefitness.com/store/pendlay_econ_bars.php ($150-$200) instead?
I understand I could email them, and I have, but I'd like unbiased opinions as well.
Thanks in advance guys.

i think that's the one i have, which i ordered from the pendlay site a while back. it's great. it has no middle knurling, so just be aware of that if you're picky. i've had no problem with squats, though, and it's 200% better than the CAP bar I have. the sleeves actually rotate and the knurling is good.

ok since this thread is for a bar which is like for many characteristics including its sleeves which rotate MUCH better than the normal junky no-name bar you can find...i thought this would be interesting to see for those who visit this thread.
this rotation is way more than on my econ bar...which is really very nice, especially for what i am used to...but supposedly eleiko's are at the very top.

I know there were a lot of the early economy bars bent doing heavy o-lifts. If you don't plan on heavy o-lifts or dropping the bar hard on pins then it should be a great bar.

28.5MM is the diameter. It is made with stress proof steel or what some call "1200" strength.
It ends up about 130K PSI tensile strength vs higher end steel at 155K PSI.

Can this bar be shipped to Massachusetts? (Bill's link says most things are pickup only). And how well will this bar last using weights of up to 300lbs? I've bent two bars from Sports Authority and don't want another bent bar? And finally, how does this compare to the York bars? roguefitness.com/store/york_strength_bars.php
