And Ben and Jerry's is fantastic. Half Baked is one of the best ones. Half Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and half Chocolate Fudge Brownie.

All this talk of ice cream is dangerous....I'm pretty sure that I would be a fan of any of their PB flavours.....

HIIT cardio is done for the day:

16 sprints (30 second intervals) + LISS for a total of 40 minutes.

I also had a dentist appointment today. As I was getting my teeth cleaned a funny thought came to me - the hygienists see us patients at our worst. I mean, the way they pull our lips around, gums exposed, excessive drooling. Yeah, that's attractive....

Cute Jaime....but I was hoping to hold off on the drooling until I hit the 90's. Now incontinence on the the other hand....or was that memory loss...? I can't remember....

So, it's 22 days to the Winter Olympics. I figure it's about time to choose my event. I'm leaning towards Biathlon. Cross country skiing with some rifle shooting thrown in....sounds kind of James Bond-esque to me....cool....

Morning everyone. Yesterday I plugged out an upper body power workout. The weights are slowly creeping up (aside from my incline press). My lower back is still bothering me, so I know that SLDL's will not be a part of my lower body workout today. Hopefully I'll feel strong during the squats. We'll see....

Hey how are things? I hope Jennifer is recovering well. It's January! Busy times at the gym (all the newbies will be gone by mid-Feb !) and contest prep has begun for many of us. I hope you're still thinking about something for the spring. Your workouts are awesome. Even if you do not compete, would you continue working out with as much enthusiasm? I find I need a goal.

Jennifer's great. She had her 7 day follow-up appointment yesterday. Her vision is excellent, in fact she's 20/15 in one eye....so the surgery was an overwhelming success.

The earliest I'll be ready is July, that when I'm planning to hit the stage again. And maybe the OBA in the fall...

Oh and I agree on the dentist. The worst is when they try to have a conversation with you. Must be a daily joke for them.
Thanks guys. My lower back is still quite sore, so that limits my range of motion. My squats are definitely not ATG, but just close to parallel. To compensate I do the squats very slowly to lengthen TUT, so hopefully that's hitting the quads well.

How much LBM do you think you'll have pt on by then? When would you start cutting for it?

P.S. Im back in your country

P.p.S. Doing front squats to target the quads > doing them slowly

You mean back in OUR Country - our home and native land....

I hope to compete next time in the 180's, up 6-8lbs if that's possible. I was planning to start cutting at around 16 weeks out (March 20) if I can maintain a decent BF%.

I'll give the front squats a try...

I haven't tried doing rack deads for a while, so during my upper body workout yesterday I thought I'd throw them in. Remind me not to do that again. Now along with my low back, my mid back is hurtin'.....not good. I can hardly move without some type of back pain - great work Sherlock. This might wreck my plans to squat today.

Oh well, on the bright side it's Monday....hold on a second....

Be careful with that back will you?

Easy does it. Don't let yourself get too impatient to the point you really do a number
    on yourself.
    No excuses, just performance...

I think conditioning wasn't your issue... size was. But you did pretty well there too.

So as long as you KNOW you have more LBM than you competed with last time, you're good to go. It's all about improvements...because if you look the same as you did last tiem, chances are very good you'll place the same...

You're right Sammy, and don't worry I am still being very careful with my training.

Hey Clement - THE CHAMP IS HERE! I have been taking it very slowly with any exercises that could compromise my lower back (SLDL's, squats, BB rows...etc.). I definitely will not risk really messing things up. I am still able to train without major pain, and if I feel I could get to that point I will shut it down. Can't make gains while injured eh?

I know I need to grow, and I think with that timeline I could make improvements. I'll start prepping at the end of March and see how it goes.....
