First MMA fight coming up, have minimal training experience
I've got an amateur MMA fight coming up (if you could even call it that, its a small organization in my town this is their 2nd fight night..) and I've only trained about 2 months on and off at one of the local MMA gyms.. Basically they where in desperate need of a couple of heavy weight fighters and I figured that it would be fun even if I take an L.. I'm naturally pretty athletic and strong and the guy I am fighting has little experience also.
What are some thing I should know before hand? I am assuming conditioning and endurance are going to be the most important right now because they say that the guy I am fighting is alot bigger than me (I only weigh 210ish lbs now) so I want to atleast have the advantage of better conditioning

why dont u cut to 205 and fight there.. conditioning and explosiveness are your two biggest things. Alot of guys in local events are going to try to act like they know what there doing when they really dont.. dont rush in for a brawl. fight smart. good luck!

Thanks dude, and I could easily cut to 205 but the thing is this new local fight night thing that my city has been doing is really hurting for LHW and HW fighters so they are mix matching fighters up in those 2 classes a little bit to try to let people of similar skill levels fight as long as the weight difference isn't too big

In the third, assuming he's tired...Take him down and lay some viscious ground and pound on him. Elbows, punches, etc. Thats what I recommend with your lack of experience. From here until the fight, work on blocking punches, kicks, stuffing takedowns and then some takedowns. Try not to throw too much from standing and dont leave yourself open.

Awesome thanks. I will be training at my local MMA gym until then and doing some extra striking with my buddy who is really good at boxing.. From what I have heard I am alot more athletic than he is

If I was you I wouldn't think about it too much man... just go out there and do your thing. If you win great, if not, you did something a lot of people wouldn't do in the first place. This is a great adventure and great story to tell your friends, family, and kids one day.
My only advice would be to keep your chin down, hands up, throw some bombs, and do your best brother.
Best of luck.

1. Whats your strong aspect/point of MMA ( wrestling , submissions , striking ) ?
2. How much does the other guy weigh ?
3. What are his strong aspects ( in case you know anything about him ) ?
