Start Date: 10/12/09
Start Weight: 455 lbs
As of 11/08/09
Current Weight: 425lbs
Total lost: 30lbs
On 11/4/09 I did a bod pod body fat analysis:
height 6'1
weight: 430
Lean weight: 280
body fat: 150
body fat percentage 35%
So I am assuming when I started I was somewhere around 40% body fat and morbidly obese.
Goal: 300lbs and under 15% body fat. (I am sure I am going to lose some lean mass in the process) for my 6'1" frame, I am gonna be big no matter what.
I have lost all 30 lbs naturally on just diet alone. I have yet to goto a gym(new years resolution). Before i started loosing weight I was drinking at least a 2L of coke a day, fried and fat filled foods almost daily, and probably double to triple a normal portion. My guess is I was consuming somewhere around 6000+ calories a day.
I have changed my eating habits dramatically instantly. Pretty much woke up on the morning of the 12th and haven't looked back since. I haven't had any soda since. I primarily drink water with an occasional gatorade or hot chocolate. I am only eating lean meats: chicken, turkey, pork tenderloins, salmon have become my staples. I have been eating a lot of salads and vegetables. I have eliminated the rice that used to accompany dinner every night and replaced it with just a bigger portion of vegetables. I have eliminated almost all white flour based products from my diet and replaced them with whole grain versions. The real sources fat from my diet except for meat has been cheese (which i love) and nuts. Since I cant drink milk, cheese has been and probably always will be my calcium source, so i accept the trade off. I would say I am eating about 2000 calories a day now.
I can feel a major difference in how my clothes fit and my energy levels. Tomorrow will be the 4 week mark, and I have lost 30+ pounds which is very encouraging.

Your diet looks good. Keep it up. Try and concentrate on healthy, clean foods you love and can live on for the rest of your life.
I'd like to see you hit the weights so you tone up and minimize muscle loss. That being said, it is very hard to believe you have 280 pounds of LBM. That means you have the body of Hulk underneath your layer of fat. Highly unlikely if you haven't been hitting the weights and watching you diet your whole life.
FYI... note that I'm 6'1" tall and weight about 195 pounds with 15% bodyfat. You may have a little more LBM than me, but certainly no where near 100 pounds.Last edited by ejthomp; 11-08-2009 at 11:17 AM.

I havent been to the gym really since january 07, so 3 years. Until then I was pretty active. I wrestled in high school and college. Played baseball and football in High school. In college i was working out at lest 5 days a week. During wrestling season i would do 2 cardio sessions and wrestling practice a day. My freshman year in college wrestling i weighed around 300 and was 25% body fat which would put me at about 225 lean....im sure i gained some muscle just to deal with having to carry around an extra 150lbs of weight. I thought it was high too, but from what I have read the bod pod is pretty accurate.

And the more I have read and seen, the less I trust the Bod Pod. A little common sense goes a long way.....280 lbs of LBM is MORE than Lou Ferrigno had at his peak....6'5" tall, 59" chest, 34" waist...22"arms...As for being 26 making a big difference... okay...if you say so.... Prove it to me.
I look forward to seeing your results!!! Let's concentrate on losing 100 pounds and then re-evaluate.
Why start cardio and lifting on Jan 1? The gyms are open now..... You'll be that much further ahead if you start now.Last edited by ejthomp; 11-08-2009 at 02:08 PM.

i agree 280lbs of LBM sounds high....so like you said i will reevaluate my goals as i go...i figured it would be closer to 230 or so, so i guess we will see. I have seen people similar size as me weighing 100lbs less, so i guess i will see. either way loosing 150lbs would be a huge accomplishment, reguardless of my body fat percentage.

Update as of 12/16/09
Things have slowed down as I have lost the initial water weight
Start Weight 10/12/09: 455lbs
Goal Weight: 299lbs
Current Weight 12/16/09: 408.5
Total Loss: 46.5lbs
To Go: 109.5lbs
More immediate Goals: get under 400 by the end of the year
Get to 375....which is the lowest I have weighed in a while......the last time being FEB 2007.
In dec 06 i started at 415 cut to 375 in 2 months then gained all of it back plus an additional 40lbs in the next 3 yrs. Mentally, I need to get to 375 just to be at 0.

"Everyone thinks they're on their way to single digit body fat as soon as they see a blurry four-pack in the right lighting.Your final body weight at 5-6% will be a lot less than what you think.Talk to me again when you get in contest shape." I'd be willing to say that 95% of people on this forum accomplish nothing in years, don't be one of those people. It's sad, they seem to have the knowledge many don't but can't utilize it.

My guess would be that before I was eating 6-7000 calories a day:
Breakfast: Sausage egg and cheese on a bagel from dunkin donuts
Lunch: chinese food: 2 cups or so of pork fried rice, 4 crab rangoons, 3 chicken wings, 5-6 chicken fingers, and a small container of hot and sour soup
if im not having chinese food its takeout italian food pasta cream sauces etc
dinner: A)good size portion meat(1+lbs ribeyes etc), bowl of vegetables with butter, close to box of ricearoni
B) Pasta dishes
C) tacos(6-7)
everything cooked with lots of butter/oils/deep fried foods. went out to dinner a lot...lots of rich foods.
soda.....at least a 2liter a day
Now I am eating somewhere around 2000 calories a day
Breakfast 9am: Nutrigrain Bar, multivitamin, ECA stack
Lunch 12/1: A) mixed field green salad with grilled chicken and feta cheese, balsamic vinegrette
B)turkey sandwhich with cheese on whole wheat bread (dry no mayo) and a container of soup(220 calories)
will usually have a tangerine with lunch
snack1 3/4pm : some almonds, fruit or a 100 calorie pack
snack2 6pm: same thing as previous snack
dinner 9pm: some sort of lean meat (salmon, haddock, chicken, pork tenderloin, beef tenderloin) (good size portion probably 8-12oz of fish, 1 chicken breast, 10oz beef tenerloin, 10-12 oz pork) with a bowl of vegetables
soda: since oct 12 ive had 2 cans of soda...both on thanksgiving
water: close to a gallon a day
My work schedule is tough since i work till 8/9 at night so i eat dinner late. I plan to get to the gym starting Jan 2 doing weights/cardio

Not to be a downer but I'm 100% positive these numbers aren't right.
On 11/4/09 I did a bod pod body fat analysis:
height 6'1
weight: 430
Lean weight: 280
body fat: 150
body fat percentage 35%
There is no way your 35% bodyfat at 400+ lbs. 280 lbs of LBM is uh... ya.
I don't know how water weight works on big guys though so idk....
Congrats on your weight loss for though, and keep going.
GOOD LUCK!!!add me : http://www.********.com/mbobilin

update
Well I upped my ECA stack to twice a day. I was also constipated i guess, since I have been spending some time in the bathroom lately and losing considerable weight.
I still cant believe I let myself get that fat where I weighed 455lbs. I should be under 400 by christmas which is a big milestone considering where i was.
Update as of 12/19/09
Start Weight 10/12/09: 455lbs
Goal Weight: 299lbs
Current Weight 12/16/09: 403.5
Total Loss: 51.5lbs
To Go: 104.5lbs

Congratulations on losing 50 lbs in 2 months! Amazing! Look how far you have come!
I don't mean to say anything about anyone who chooses other options besides hard work, specifically those that choose different forms of surgery [lipo, staples, band,] but I just really appreciate, and I'm sure others who are battling weight loss do too, the fact that you manned up and did it through hard work. You've broken bad habits, built new habits, and shown yourself what kind of person you are! One that can kick a$$.
Don't quit. Show us what you can do in the next two months please? You did an awesome job.MAGA --- ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

Ive had many friends who suggested the surgery, but it wasnt for me for a few reasons.
1. I believe you should man up. I got to the point I am at without surgery. I can fix it without surgery.
2. The surgery to me is a bandaid. I need to learn to eat healthy etc. If i can lose 150-200+ lbs without surgery, i will have changed my life to the point itll be hard to go back. If i get a surgery it doesnt fix the real problem, that I need to start eating.
I will be starting weight/cardio training on Jan 2nd so i expect that to excelerate my weight loss. To this point I havent stepped in a gym, so that I expect to compensate for the fact that It will be getting harder and harder.
I see no issue in reaching 399 by the end of the year at this point, even with the holidays. My next Goal is to get to 375 by FEB 8. The last time I weighed 375 was Feb 8, 2007 after cutting 40lbs, 3 yrs to the day.

so close to a milestone
Well today I came so close to a milestone.
I weighed in at 400.0
I weighed myself twice just to ensure the accuracy. I was hoping immensely that It would just say 399.9 just so that I can say im under 400. I guess that happens tomorrow.
