Most Overrated/Underrated NBA teams this year.........
Obviously its hard to tell cuz its still early and teams can still turn it around but the SPURS and the CAVS were way overrated coming into the season.
Oklahoma looks underrated and I have Wade winning the MVP even though he may not have the best numbers in the end.
Feel free to throw in any players/teams you think are overrated/underrated coming into the season

I think the Cavs are overrated. They definitely over-achieved last year, and everyone expects them to better now b/c they have Shaq. The Spurs aren't looking good either. Tim Duncan is getting old and Manu doesn't look 100%.
I think the Mavs are underrated. Look out for them this year... Marion is a nice fit for that team, and they have Gooden.

I'm not going to rule out the Spurs just yet, but it was pretty obvious Shaq in Cleveland was not going to work.
Denver is by far the most underrated team in the league. Carmelo is a flat out stud, along with Kobe, possibly the best pure scorer in the league. Chauncey is still Chauncey. They're tough.

Duncan has been 4-8, 5-10, 3-5, and 13-19 with 9, 15, 7 and 28 points respectively and 12/13/10/16 rebounds respectively. Looks solid to me.
It's hard to judge San Antonio based on the regular season since Pop doesn't care about it and only wants to make the playoffs with a decent seed and stay healthy.

It is way to early but I'd say that The Suns and Heat are underrated and The Blazers, Cavs, and Hornets are overrated as of right now.

Raptors are underrated.
Top 5 offensive team in the NBA, just needs to crack down on their defense and they are set.

I don't know. It remains to be seen.
If we could get our defense to be between the 20th and 15th best in the NBA, I'd be happy. Because with our offense that would be good enough for the Raps to net about 46 or 47 wins.

Yeah Denver is definitely underrated.
OP mentioned Oklahoma...they have a great young starting lineup but their depth is TERRIBLE. They're going to keep being a dismal team until they can build it up some more I think.

I understand, but he's averaging a career low 15 PPG bro. That's 5 PPG less than last year. He needs to be an allstar scorer and dominate on the offensive end like he did in the past. 15 PPG from one of the BEST PF's of all time isn't gonna win a championship. Granted, his minutes are lower and he's shooting at a great percentage. This isn't the same Tim Duncan we've see in the past. It's only been 4 games though. We'll see what happens.

This is a new Spurs team, a team where Duncan doesn't HAVE to score 20-30pts a game to win. Of course, it's not going to be like that every night, but just think about it. He's past his prime but still has the capability of playing very well. Since the Spurs have so many weapons now, he doesn't NEED to do everything anymore. With Jefferson, Blair, Ginobili, and Parker (plus the perimeter shooters - Spurs 3rd last year in the NBA in 3 point percentage I believe), the burden is not on Duncan anymore.
Plus, Parker is the Spurs main offensive threat, not Duncan. Boards and creating plays are his main focus now.

I don't know if the Hawks are underrated. Pretty much everybody agrees they'll take the 4th seed, which is probably true. But they definitely have the ability to go further in the playoffs this time.

There's no way you can say that Atlanta is mediocre. Just like the other top 4 teams in the east, they got a lot better.

Under I would say Denver and Houston. I don't hear any mention of them making it deep in the playoffs. Miami too.

If you're referring to the Cavs, they aren't as fluent as they were last year. Reason, Shaq.
Actually that brings me to another underrated team, the Suns. They look good without Shaq slowing them down.

based on their records they were never a really good team especially considering they played in the east. if you list all the teams in the nba i would say the hawks rank close to the middle so id say they are mediocre. but def better than average. idk about this season tho. i havent watched them at all.

Good to have you back brah, you didn't post in Sports for a while!!
Memphis on paper is a great team and I'd say they're underrated, but they haven't been performing on the court. OKC is definitely underrated as well. Even though they played they played the Lakers without Gasol, that was a hell of a game and they played surprisingly well.
I don't think you can say Cavs are overrated. Any team Lebron is on has a chance of winning. Toronto is overrated if their D doesn't get better, underrated if it does.

Was talking about the Spurs actually. They'll still be a top 2 team in the West if they stay reasonable healthy. Far from overrated.
I knew Shaq wouldn't fit into the Cavs' system. His fat ass taking up the entire paint messes with Bron's strengths. And adding Raptor castaways into the mix is never a good thing.

Lebron couldn't beat the Bulls yesterday...AT HOME.
They lost 1 game at home all season last year, this year they've already lost 2. They just don't look great and look even worse when you look at how Boston is doing.

I don't know if Shaq is necessarily the problem. They look bad whether he's in the game or on the bench. I can't figure it out.

Oh yeah Spurs will come up, they added a ton of new weapons to the team and still have their top 3 (healthy). It'll take at least a few more weeks for them to get fully adjusted and meshing.

true buuuuuuuut..........with the addition of jefferson and blair and manu being healthy wouldnt you think the spurs would be off to a good start? i think they are 2-2.
its not necessary that they click right away..........but most really good teams are really good from the jump
plus they were heavy favorites to win it all
