weak points are this:
1. its expensive. about 2k for desktop youll get better display + hardware spec if u want.
2. its a mac.. sure u can run top games but not on OSX... youll be running windows on iMAC which is retarded
PS: i own a new macbook aluminum body and run win 7 on it...

Do you only run 7 on it?
if so what's the advantage of that?
or do you use it as a secondary os just for those few programs?

They make the 27" in a 2.8 Core i7 (hyperthreading = 8 logical cores), that is what I want.

i have both osx and win 7 but i want more space on win 7
at first i used it for those special programs on win that osx lacks (ie convertxtodvd), but then i started playing sc, prototype on it and other compatibilities issues lead me to win 7 over and over again. also win 7 is pretty fast/stable so it does more than osx now. its retarded, i use a macbook with win 7 almost always

The 27" iMac has a resolution of 2560x1440, the dell 27" is only 1920x1200 (24" monitor resolution), they don't compare straight.

new macs are ok (though the processors on them are outdated, and weaker than what came with the previous gen imacs) if you're going with the base models, and don't need them for anything like gaming. the top tier models are a waste of money since they have a weak video card at the moment. the resolution is too high for it to run games smoothly. the next update that they'll have in six months will probably address that.
on the bright side, the led ips screen is really nice compared to the previous. the thing alone is probably worth $1300.

thats fine but are you using it as a TV for movies or gaming? resolution is great but if that alone is why u want it, just get a sick monitor and a good tower...
for gaming youll need windows (DX11)...
i wish i could buy a desktop but i move around too much

I have a 24" iMac and a 13" MacBook Pro and love them both.
Sure you pay a little more. But its definitely worth it.

You should know better than to post a pro mac thread on the misc. where everybody seems to hate Apple products. I would say in before the haters but it's already too late lol

I can't stand when people like you think they know what they're talking about. It's like there is this new generation that thinks it's a skill when they've figured out how to assemble a computer consisting of parts that were designed to allow the average moron to assemble a system on their own, and they think they've "beat the system" because companies like Apple still exist and are able to make money by writing good software.
and then it hit me, I was psyklops.

I can build the same PC desktop for under a grand and then buy myself a 42" flat screen tv for another grand and use that as my monitor.

And the dell screen is 1k.
So, for all you at home keeping track - the screen alone you can't get for under 1k.
