I've been working at this job as a FT trainer now for about 6 months. When I first started I took over for a trainer that was leaving there, and I got a good amount of his clients. The pay to start was 600 every two weeks as the base salary, because the lowest tier amount to hit for make a bi-weekly commission check was a total gross amount of 2200 every two weeks. A month into it I went up to $800 every two weeks, because I didn't have anywhere near enough clients to make that commission. My bosses, the gym's owners, have told me that they'd help me out and give me that extra base up to $1000 every two weeks within a few months from the time the gave me $800.
Months have based and nothing. The owner has his own tiny client base that he has had me train while he goes away to his house on the coast once a month, and I never profit from that. I've kept all of the the trainer's clients that i've replaced, and have added a few as well since. I've gotten nothing but compliments from all of the clients, and I've never cancelled a session, nor have I ever been late. All of my clients are very pleased. That commission base amount of $2200 just seems like it's totally unrealistic anytime soon, and i'm a dad with two little kids to feed at home, and my wife doesn't work bc she's a full time student and when she's not at school she's taking care of her dad who is dying with stage 4 inoperable brain cancer. My schedule is open enough to work a small part time job in between my clients to make some extra money, not much though. I still am friends with the trainer who left there, and he told me that they're (the two bosses) not trustworthy and hate to give raises, and don't want any trainers to make that commission because they'll make less money. I mean, the one literally buys a new car every month. I grossed $2000 my last pay period, and only saw $800!!
Do u think I have good grounds to ask for a raise like they've mentioned would come themselves?

if you got a good enough client base leave and go independant. Rent a small building, charge the same as the gym 50/hr, profit. Also depends on your current fiancial status. Of course you'd have to buy equipment, ect.
