It's like a very detailed sim city with micro and macro economic management of a tropical country. You start with a dirt poor country and you try to make it prosperous with tourism and industry and **** like that.

You can fraud elections, declare martial law, ban/allow gay marriage, assassinate rebels, ... etc.

I'm on the third "wave" of campaigns. It gets incredibly complex.

The mission I selected, there are only a few dozen citizens who are all uneducated. The ability to grow crops sucks on this particular island. However there are 2 oil fields.

Mission is to get population 70% happy.

Here is the thing.... oil refiners need educated workers... and there isn't enough population to really get things moving. The kicker? Citizens hate immigrants. Waaa waaa

I've got the game, it's great.
Sadly however, in the sandbox mode, there is no way to play indefinitely, beyond the year 2000. This does not allow one to make the tropico of ones dreams.
