Eating During the Winter
Hows it going everyone? Winter is almost upon us, and I know I slow down with my outdoors grilling considerably. What are some cool, cheap, high protein/calories meals you guys cook up? Heres one I do.
Cheap Chili Mac
1-2 cans Hormel chili or cheaper chili
1 box penne or pasta laying around
as much ground beef as I have or can afford.
Cook ground beef with chili, pasta alone. Combine, done! I usually cook double-triple portions so I have something to eat if Im in a rush.
Other then that, Im a big fan of chunky soups and dinty moore beef stew. Awesome stuff when theyre on sale. I also throw some ham or turkey and cheese sandwichs on the George Foreman grill, nice if dont want to do anything and want something. A hot ham and swiss sandwich dunked in cambells tomato soup (so cheap) is awesome.

I live in Rochester. I use my charcoal grill in the winter. Best way to cook my food for the week on Sundays.

I live on Lake Superior, its cold here too. With plenty of snow and lake effect snow. Shovel and grill baby! Nothing better than some hot grilled venison steak or barbecued chicken! Maybe a few brats? All good stuff!

Stir fry chicken and pasta in olive or canola oil
Add some cheese
bake
=
profit
So many things similar to that are so easy to do.
You know japanese show cooking or hibachi? That **** is easy to do at home too if you have a decent sized skillet and you can make it really healthy.
Just now I finished eating some. Great dude.
Now that you can't get the wonderful flavoring of a grill you have to manufacture some falvors by seasoning well

Never tried stir frying before to be honest. Really need to get into that! A couple weeks ago I made Tater Tot Casserole that was banging.
Tater Tot Casserole
Brown 1-2 lbs of ground beef in a skillet. Add 1-2 cans of cream of mushroom soup. Put in casserole dish, cover with frozen tater tots and shredded cheese and bake. Banging! Very calorie dense.

Pasta bakes are awesome - I like making fish pie too instead of cottage pie (not sure if you have cottage/shepherd's pie in the US?)

I don't think we really do. Out where us rednecks live we have a thing called Mincedmeat pie. Its lots of nutmeg with minced meat baked into a pie. Looks just like an apple pie or whatever but there's meat in it. Similar?
I think behind grilling frying is the easiest cooking method, baking is good but I'm always scared of burning the house down so I don't do it

What's not to like! Carrots, goood, meat, goood, mash, gooood! I like to make it spicy too though, so chuck in some chillis or curry powder when you're doing the mince.

chicken catchatori:
2 cans of tomato sauce
6 pieces of dark meat chicken
pound of white meat chicken
2 cans of stewed tomato's
Tons of mushrooms
fresh green beans
2 medium size red onions
4-5 green bell peppers
Basil
oregano
parmesan cheese
tons of garlic
Olive oil
S/P
in large roasting pan - bake peppers and onions with olive oil at 350 degrees, then add garlic and let cook for 10 mins or so with out browning the garlic
add all the chicken with salt and pepper with some more olive oil and cook chicken until it i almost done...
cut all the chicken into pieces then add everything else... add seasonings and mix well
cook at 350 for an hour and 30 mins, give or take
i make this meal on Mondays and i eat it twice a day. I also cook up a full box of brown rice and add it to the pan and mix it all up. This last me all week.. Tons of protein and great carbs
