any people here can help me with an audio problem for a movie i'm editing?
every time i put my song 4:27 into windows movie maker, it shows up as 8+ minutes.... so i go and edit the song so its 4:27 but its all distorted...
but here is the kicker... every time i add the song over again (delete the original and add it completely anew) its distorted in a different way! the timing of the song is all off and its impossible to time my video with this happening...
I'm not at home near my computer to help you out with the exact trouble shooting (On work computer). But maybe try starting over. Just drag and drop the pictures into a new movie maker file and then add the song. If it's going to 8+ minutes still then maybe check the audio preferences. You could have them set to play for an elapsed time meaning it will probably slow down and distort the music. Or there SHOULD be a button on the lower left hand corner of the movie maker application that shows something like "pictures" "audio" or maybe even both in one (sorry can't remember exact icon names). Try clicking the audio button and you might have to drag the audio file to it's normal length. Hope this helps. Been awhile since I used movie maker and not at home to tell you exactly what could be going wrong but hope this helps out in some sort. Good Luck.

It is either a song format issue or sound properties setup issue. If your sample rate for the program settings are different than the song you are trying to bring in - it will mess up.
If the file is in .mp3 format - convert it to a .wma, .wav, or .aiff (since you are using windows movie maker) and then bring it into the timeline. Windows movie maker doesn't like mp3 and much prefers .WMA
Or you can check the audio settings and make sure that it is set for 44.1Khz (which is what I am assuming the song is sampled at).
*edit* actually thinking about it now, it might be a security feature depending on where you got the song. So even re-exporting it as a different .mp3 would probably suffice if the above doesn't work.
